Why I Love "Rehab Addict"

I'm a fan of the DIY network. "Renovation Realities" has given me more chuckles and guffaws than most shows on television! Last year, I came across a show on DIY Network called "Rehab Addict." It follows Nicole Curtis, a home renovator, who buys old homes and restores them--on a budget.

I find the show compelling for a variety of reasons.

1. My husband and I have had homes built, and we've tackled many renovation projects. (The credit goes to my talented hubby--I'm more of a "where do you want me?" type of helper.) Last year we completely remodeled the first floor of our house.

2. I'm frugal and always on the lookout for innovative tips. Nicole Curtis recycles and reuses materials in a way I find awesome. I don't think I've ever seen an episode where she drives to Home Depot or Target for new materials.

3. Nicole herself--she takes care of her body and appearance. I can easily fall into let-myself-go mode, so I get inspired to work out, do my hair, and eat better by watching this fabulous lady.

4. The house projects. I'm a "before and after" junkie! I can't get enough of watching rooms or people transform. It's why I also adore "The Biggest Loser."

5. Set in Minnesota's Twin Cities, "Rehab Addict" features little snippets of people riding their bikes or a pretty pond in a park. It satisfies the armchair traveler in me. :)

The bottom line? Nicole Curtis is one of those ladies who won't let anyone stop her from living her dreams. She's a hard worker, believes in what she's doing, and her hair always looks good while she's doing it!

(I really want to perfect the ponytail the way she has!!)

Are there any women on television who inspire you? What is it about them that makes you want to try harder too?

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

  1. Great show! I think I've seen it on HGTV or something b/c we don't get DIY--and I loved how she worked and was slightly jealous of her muscles. The ponytail's cute too;)

  2. Did you see the arched fence she built the other night out of scrap material? That was fabulous! I'm a huge fan of DIY too. Although my ponytail looks nothing like hers.

    1. I did!! I loved how she left it with the boards original colors. I loved the end-result. :) (My ponytail is usually straggly or frizzy.)

  3. I agree. The ponytail is great and so is that toned arm! I've never watched this show. I rarely watch DIY shows.

  4. Jill, I can't believe I've never seen that show!I'll have to check it out. I love House Hunters and the newer version where folks refurbish a new home they're interested in purchasing.

And I'm not on Pinterest yet, but my goal is maybe in a few months (or sooner). Hey, maybe you could do a blog post on that...Pinterest for newbies (getting started, that type of thing.) I have some great tips I downloaded from a mutual friend, too, so some newbie tips with that would be awesome!

I'll check out Nicole's boards. They sound super! Oh, and if you're interested, I discovered another pinner the other day and thought of you--Elizabeth Traub (Hung Out to Buy).Lots of decorating and design tips there.

    1. Ooo, thanks, Cynthia! I'll check out Elizabeth Traub! Pinterest is pretty easy and low key. It's a big virtual bulletin board with buttons to repin the things that grab you. :)

  5. I guess the ladies who do the cooking shows inspire me because I'm not a great cook and I'd like to do better.

Your show choices sound great. I used to love the one where they made over people's homes on a budget.

    1. I loved those shows too, Nancy! And I'm with you on the Food shows. My new favorite is The Pioneer Woman. There's something very calm and heartwarming about the show. :)

  6. I've never watched this show, but I have a feeling I'd really like it!

Hmm, women on television who inspire me...I don't watch much reality tv so I'm not sure...OH, wait, I know!! Robin Roberts...I LOVE her...and not because she did the cutest interview with Tim Tebow and his mom. Ha, but simply because of her way of interviewing, her kindness, her resilience. I just think she's cool. :)

  8. Oh this is so a show I need to check out. We are all wrapped up in the home shows lately. Hmm. I'll have to think about who inspires me. I like the new host Natalie on Today (but I hardly ever watch it).

  9. Look at her guns! And you do realize, I checked out her saw, right? She SHOULD be wearing a vapour mask if she's cutting through wood and insulation!!
If I had some C4 or just a dab on Semtech, I could re-do my house too.
