One Minute Vacation: Tropical Getaways

This might come as a shocker, but I like the beach. Wait, I take that back.

I LOVE the beach.

There's something delightful about warm sand between my toes and the shush-shush of waves hitting the shore. In fact, I would love to be at a beach right now!

Doesn't this scene entice? Yes!!

I'll pass on this next one. No thank you.

Yes, please! (Michigan looks just like Bora Bora in December. If I close my eyes really hard...)

No! Okay, maybe...because there IS a cat.

Yes. I'll take it!

When you dream of getting away, where do you go?

Have a wonderful weekend!!

  1. I've been so cold the past two days. Flannel lined jeans, thick socks and even fingerless mitts don't seem to help. Your beach pictures look so warm and inviting. Yup, that's where I want to be. Is it August, yet?

  2. I'm all about the beach and I beg my husband every winter to move me there.

  3. Great photos, Jill. When I dream of getting away, it is ususally to a wild place, often the remote Alaskan coastline of Prince William Sound.

    Happy Friday.

  5. I'm a beach girl too. Of all the places in the world, I'd choose the little beach here on the CT coast that I've gone to most summers of my life. Paradise.

  6. I'm a mountain girl myself who's blessed to live in the Sierra Foothills not too far from the breathtaking beauty found up at South Lake Tahoe. However, I don't like cold, so I'm happy to live just below the snowline. Home in our Gold Rush town is my favorite place to be.

  7. You all can come visit me in Hawaii. I'll be about 5-10 mins from the beach. :)

Seeing these pics is adding to my excitement. lol...

But, like Keli, I tend to imagine myself in the mountains, snuggled up to a nice warm fire with a good book. :)

  8. I'm always in Italy when I dream, or on the cost in Greece.

  9. I may be one of the weirdest gals on the planet because those tropical getaways look horrible to me. :-) I'd much rather have the winter scene! See? Told ya I was a bit touched in the head!

I am just not a heat person or a water person or a beach person, so tropical locations are off the list for me.

Give me an old English estate or crumbling castle anyday and I'm a happy gal. :-)

  10. Right now, anywhere warm sounds good. I love the ocean, too, and wish I had to chance to get there more often. Colorado is way too far away from the ocean!

  11. Oh my goodness...can you take me there, pretty, pretty please? Except the snow one. I would really enjoy being at those beaches right about now. I just put on my coat because I. am. freezing!

  13. Well, it's decided--we're all getting together for a writer's pow-wow at the beach! Anyone who prefers mountains or winter--we'll head to Aspen the following week.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  14. Hello there,

Thanks for sharing this link - but unfortunately it seems to be not working? Does anybody here at jillkemerer.blogspot.com have a mirror or another source?

    Thanks,

  15. That last picture just sends me. I love the beach passionately. I love the waves lapping and looking for shells, ever ordinary ones are saved because the beach just makes me feel like treasure hunting. Thanks for the little vacation. Loved it.

  16. This post cracked me up! I loooove the beach too. We live in Los Angeles county, so there are plenty of beaches just a few miles away, if you're willing to fight traffic to get there. Sometimes we opt for Ventura beaches for that reason.

My hubby and I went to the caribbean for our honeymoon and I'd love to go back. This time, it would be fun to bring our kids. Some day!

  17. Oh yes, I love the beach too! Shells, local beaches, caribbean beaches--they're all good!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  18. I tell my husband that I was born on an island and I must see the sea at least once a year no matter what (now that we can afford it). LOL! I adore the beach no matter the season. I was caught off guard in the Gulf. I had no idea there was a shell season???

We're heading to the Dominican Republic this February. I can't wait! A friend told me the food and the beaches are awesome. We went to Costa Rica a couple years ago and I would move there if I spoke Spanish. It was fantastic!!!

  19. I'm so with you - I hate winter and being cold and I love the beach! I'm off to Cairo in a few weeks and I cannot wait. It's not the beach, but at least it will be warm!
