December is a glorious month, but it's hard to pamper yourself when you're rushing to get everything done.
Here are a few easy, inexpensive, fast ways to make your day a little nicer.
- Massage thick, creamy lotion into your feet.
- Place a slice of cucumber over each eye, recline back, and rest a minute.
- Listen to a favorite song.
- Stare out your front window. How often do you pay attention to that view?
- Call a friend you haven't talked to in a while.
- Snuggle with your child or a pet. No kids or pets? Wrap up in a fuzzy blanket.
- Practice deep breathing.
- Hop in your vehicle at night and drive around to see the local Christmas lights.
Have a festive weekend!
I love a hot bubble bath, a glass of wine, and a super good book at the end of a long, busy day!
ReplyDeleteChocolate. The ulitimate comfort food.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those days yesterday :/
ReplyDeleteI'm a winter tea-drinker, and enjoy a cup of green tea in the evening to unwind with. But I don't go for it in the spring and summer, only in the cold months.
A bath. I love my big bathtub!
ReplyDeleteOh Julie, I miss our bath in Ohio. So big and the water was always warm. Not a guarentee here.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, sitting to read for fifteen minutes is heavenly to me!
Or chocolate.
Or a brief nap.
I can't even tell you the last time I painted my nails.
Merry Christmas,
~Wendy
I took a nice long bath yesterday. It was so nice. I think I'll try and do that more often.
ReplyDeleteI end each day with a hot bath, complete with Calgon, and enjoy a few chapters of a romance novel.
ReplyDeleteMy guilty pleasure is all those Christmas movies they show on tv this time of year!
ReplyDeleteYour first question pretty much described my life.
ReplyDeleteI ought to buy me some cucumbers. :)
I've been doing a lot of staring out the window lately. What's been really relaxing to me is getting a room completely clean and organized and then sitting in it in several minutes of silence. Probably strange that organization relaxes me, but it does :)
ReplyDeleteSnuggles, a cup of tea, laughter, driving to see Christmas lights with the family tradition of "ooh, ah, whoa." (We each take turns saying those words as we point out the lights, it's silly but it makes us all laugh)
ReplyDeletePetting the dogs and the cat. And talking to friends.
Snuggle with hubby and watch a movie. And on Saturday mornings, sleep in!
ReplyDeleteA few minutes to read in bed before I turn off the light at night. No matter how tired I am, I read at least a few pages.
ReplyDeleteWere you looking at my schedule??! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to relax is with a book or a movie. Oh, wait - and over at the coffee shop. Love that.
With four boys, a full-time job, and the weekly writing gig, I'm going like a one-armed paper hanger. Cucumbers on the eyes - what's that?? (grinning wryly)
Thank you so much for your kind comment over on Susan Reinhardt's blog. I really appreciated that. It was a nice little Christmas gift for this tired mama.
Waving and smiling,
Rhonda
I'm a big bath fan myself, and it's really, REALLY nice to know we're all busy and do the best we can to fit in some "me time."
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for stopping by!
Great ideas, Jill! I like grab a small bit of chocolate. I also will try and get some fiction reading in if I can.
ReplyDeleteBlessings for the weekend,
Karen :)
I like to sit down and drink a cup of tea start to finish, just to take a breather. Of course it doesn't always happen... I find abandoned tea mugs around the house at the end of the day or sometimes even a full kettle that has boiled & cooled. At least the thought was there!
ReplyDeleteI love your suggestions Jill! I need to do them all:) I think the best way I relaz is to just sit still, close my eyes and think about happy relaxing thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill -
ReplyDeleteWe're planning to ride around the neighborhood and check out the Christmas displays. I'm also taking an hour a day to enjoy a good book.
Blessings,
Susan :)
My showers are a time to let the hot water take away the stress in my neck and head.
ReplyDeleteA deep breath when things get tense takes most of that away, so does clinching my teeth.
Online shopping/browsing/windowshopping helps :)
Retail therapy WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD IT ( don't spend all your monies!!!LOL It's too easy!) does a woman good. ;)
I try to spend some time each evening looking at my beautiful lit-up Christmas tree. That relaxes me so much. I often have only a few moments of that treat, howerer.
ReplyDeleteJust reading your suggestions relaxed me! I love shutting things down at 8 at night and watching a movie on Netflix. Tonight's movie will probably be A Christmas Story with the kids!
ReplyDeleteLove these suggestions--you're all amazing at finding ways to pamper!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
