I did the unthinkable.
I agreed to a round of "Sure-I'll-drive-and-chaperon-a-week-long-outdoor-adventure-camp-for-the-seventh-and-eighth-graders."
This week's stats:
Long drive far, far away.
Mini-van full of thirteen and fourteen-year-olds.
More thirteen and fourteen-year-olds at the actual camp.
Bunks.
Sleeping bags.
Coffee? Status unknown.
Internet? Nope.
Very limited wardrobe.
No curling iron or flatiron.
Coffee? Still status unknown.
Internet? Still nope.
The one saving grace? Dear friend and fellow mom, we'll call her "J," riding shotgun!
I will be offline until Friday. I may not survive. I mean, I mentioned the whole no-Internet thing, right? And the abundance of young teens?
Send coffee. Please, send coffee!
I have a feeling J and I will be the first ones kicked out of camp! And we're not even attending the camp.
See you all next week!
You brave soul! Can't wait to hear the stories! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!
ReplyDeleteYou must post pics of frizzy-haired, crazy coffee deprived eyed women getting thrown out of the woods.
ReplyDeleteWe'll hold down the fort till you get back! Hope you have a great time.
LOL Good luck! Maybe you can sneak away and see if there's a Starbuck's within 100 miles! (-;
ReplyDeleteSounds like a blast! ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent picture. You crack me up.
~ Wendy
Hope it is a great week! You are a brave one!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a really cool experience. Can't wait to hear about it, Jill!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a blast.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time!
ReplyDeleteIf you see a Starbucks on the way, stock up on their instant coffee...all you'll need is a cup and water.
Whoa, you're gonna make some memories...and probably have to main-line java when you get home! :D
ReplyDeletehave a great time!
You are so brave! The coffee's on the way...
ReplyDeleteEmbrace the simple living and have a fantastic time. (Says the woman who refuses to "rough it" outdoors. lol
ReplyDeleteI love getting out and back to nature. Very relaxing if a bit bug riddled. I remember doing camp back when I was that age. Great memories...sort of. Have fun and remember to bring plenty of Off.
ReplyDeleteYou are a BRAVE woman. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
I think lots of fun and great stories to follow!!! Can't wait. :O)
ReplyDeleteWow!! I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Wow....um...have fun????? I;m sure if you just laugh it will make it better!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jill, You crack me up. Hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you're serious! I thought this was some new horror picture (insert Psycho knife, ee,ee, ee here).
ReplyDeleteFuture reference: Find out coffee status before agreeing to chaperone.
Have fun! Can't wait to hear the stories when you return. :)
Well you can always file it in the "character development" category. :) Have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, that sounds great! Sometimes it's nice to get away and appreciate nature. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really neat. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe Internet and curling irons I can do a week without--what you didn't mention was if you'd have hot water and flushing toilets. Honestly, I'll sacrifice a lot for a toilet that flushes.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny. It sounds awful, but you are young and I hope you enjoy it. I'm sure you will get lots of good story ideas from the process.
ReplyDeleteJill:
ReplyDeleteYou are one BRAVE mother. Camping in our book is when we stay at the Days Inn or Super 8.
We have to have our soft beds and our hot showers. Hubby has to have his TV.
Just think of the side stories you can work into a short story or a novel.
Oh Jill, you'll have so many stories to tell! I have a 14 yo, and when he and his friends pile in my car, listening to them is a writer's bonanza. Maybe after you've guzzled hot coffee, and caught up on your billion emails, you can tell us about your "adventure."
ReplyDeleteHi Jill -
ReplyDeleteThink of it as time for R&R. You'll be energized when you return. :)
Blessings,
Susan
