Do you find your taste in music changes with the seasons?
I listen to top forty hits all year round. But I focus on different sounds each season. It's always classical jazz in the winter. Spring brings a fresh batch of country my way. And fall leads me to my old favorites, like Van Morrison, Al Green, and Dave Matthews Band.
But summer? It has to be upbeat and fun. Right now I'm loving Black Eyed Peas and anything with a great dance beat.
What do you listen to in the summer? Do you tend to listen to the same music year round?
Join me on Friday to set one goal!
All year long, I only listen to classical music and semi-classical music. That is early rock and roll, music of the 50's and 60's especially do-wop.
ReplyDeleteBob Marley says summer.
ReplyDeleteAt least it did on my college campus and every so often I still like to pretend I'm that young.
~ Wendy
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteCJ: Love your definition of classical--ha!
Wendy: Oh yeah! I like to pretend that too--then I catch sight of the wrinkles. :) Bob Marley not only says summer, it also says tropical island. What's not to love?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I've been on a Jason Mraz kick lately. He's just fun but calming at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteI mainly listen to Christian contemporary, particularly Switchfoot. But in the summer I am drawn to the 70 & 80's liking Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, even Billy Idol. (They all start with B!) And Alainis Morrisette as well as the older stuff by John Mayer. Have a happy, summer music filled day, Jill.
ReplyDeleteIt seems in summer, I am more flexible to listen to just about anything.... too excited for that sun. :O)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Top 40 and stuff with a beat, like the BEPs. Love stuff like Coldplay, John Mayer, too.
ReplyDeleteDon't do country, though. I used to go through a country phase every year or so, but haven't in several. I wonder why?
oh! where do i start?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE music..hmm, but summer brings out the upbeat, happy lets stay up late and play the day away type :) Love country :), also some Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Switchfoot, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and right now I am really stuck on "FREE" by the Zac Brown Band...in fact, I am kinda stuck on the Zac Brown Band period.
ReplyDeleteJaime: I love his mellow yet lively music too!
ReplyDeleteLynn: I hear you! Love all of them--and I'm a fan of John Mayer's music.
Diane: Me too. Bring on the sun!
Janna: Maybe the direction country has gone in doesn't float your boat? The sound is always changing.
Amber J: Zac Brown Band rocks! You and I have a lot of similar faves!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Country, all year round...with a little celtic thrown in for variety...and of course Christmas music for all of December.
ReplyDeleteSummer cries out for CCR at top volume with all the windows down! And maybe a little Southern rock, some Aerosmith. : )
ReplyDeleteMy music choice changes with the book that I'm writing. I like to create "soundtracks" for each book, and since I write both contemporary and historical novels, that means having a wide variety of music (yay for digital downloads of individual tracks from Amazon!).
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm listening to a mix of movie soundtracks from pirate/nautical-themed movies: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Buccaneer, Captain Blood, Master & Commander, The Sea Hawk, etc. It helps put me in the mindset of the era and of what's happening in the story.
In my contemporaries, each character has his/her own favorite type of music---and while it may not be my favorite, I try to listen to it as much as I can to learn more about the character.
But for pure enjoyment, I listen to the Standards---my favorite is Dean Martin.
Oohh, I love music posts! :) I really like Jack Johnson during the summer. His sound is just SO chill, the way I like to be when I'm on the beach! :)
ReplyDeleteLike Beth and Jamie, Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz have to be my favorites for sumertime.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm listening to music from The Lord Of The Rings. It's all instrumental and it's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI also love the songs we purchased from American Idol.
Then, there's great Christian music like Chris Tomlin.
I listen to the same CD for a long, long time and then I change it. I haven't really listened to "radio music" for a long time.
It's always different stuff for me - but in the summer I like poppier music. Good beat, happy lyrics, music that makes it easier to belive I'm still 16! :)
ReplyDeletelooooooove blacke eyed peas!
ReplyDeleteAll music must have beat. I run to it. I live to it. I box to it.
Except when I want to wind down, and then the music must have soul. Instrumental. No drums. No imposing force. Just sweet soul.
Hi Jill -
ReplyDeleteOoo, cute Teddy with earphones!
I love Christian music - mostly the worship variety. My taste fluctuates more with the seasons of my life rather than the natural seasons.
Blessings,
Susan :)
I listen to the same music all year round. Come to think of it, I haven't branched out and tried anything new lately. I'll have to fix that!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
Mostly the same music year round . . . a combination of Christian music, and "pop" music that our whole family enjoys.
ReplyDeleteFor example, in one day, we might listen to Superchick, Francesca Battistelli, Skillet, Miley Cyrus, Rubyz, PureNRG, Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, and the David Crowder Band.
My daughter just gave me her filled IPOD so I am being exposed to all new kinds of music and songs when I work out but give me that old rock and roll any day:))
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think we should just get together, throw on all of this great music, and have a party. :)
