Wiener Dog Wednesday!

Sophie, our mini-dachshund, is my puppy partner in crime. We have a daily routine, and she helps me stay healthy. She's very affectionate, always looking for a lap to sit on, preferably under a blanket. :)

When I've sat at the computer too long, she urges me to take a walk.

When I'm tired, she's always ready to snuggle up for a nap.

She even helps with dishes.

I could use a little less barking when other dogs pass our house, but she seems to feel bad about it--well, sometimes she does. Hey, no one is perfect. :)

Do you have a special furry someone who helps you get through your day?

Have a terrific Wednesday!

  1. Ink wakes me up at the crack of dawn with a pounce and a wet nose kiss. Sits on my lap while working on the computer. Likes an afternoon nap in our favorite chair and sits by the stove while I'm cooking hoping for a tidbit.

  2. Your little Sophie is adorable! I have two furry friends who help through my day, a nine year-old Jack Russell and a six year old Australian Shepherd. They are both so much fun to hang out with. Thanks for sharing your Sophie with us!

  3. Adorable! I love the pics.

My older cat Ziggy could give a hoot what I'm doing throughout the day, but my younger cat Seven is my buddy. He's usually close by, keeping an eye on me, making sure I stay on track when I'm writing.

    1. Don't you love cats? Ziggy just does his thing and Seven is cuddly. How cute!

  4. Too cute, Jill!! I love the pictures!! Our golden retriever puppy (9 months old) definitely has us staying more active...even if it's getting off the couch to tell her "no!" Ha. But seriously, I love the companionship pets offer. Right now, my kitty is laying in my lap as I type. She's a cuddlebug!

    2. Not so fabulously. And she might just run away when we get our second one this fall! :/

  5. You know I'm lovin' Wiener Dog Wed. You crack me up! And yes, our old gal Samoyed helps me through my days. We taught her to talk and there are some days we wish she'd quiet down.

  9. I don't have a dog now, but I get home (to my parents' house) fairly often...and I love their dog Rocky. I used to have the coolest dog as a kid - his name was Chubby (NOT named by our family) and I just loved him like crazy. Eventually had to be put to sleep. :(

Someday I'd love a dog again, but only when I'm home more. The poor thing would feel too neglected if I had one now.

    1. Chubby--what a cute name! I'm with you on the being home. Some dogs need a lot more time with their owner than others. Lap dogs (including my Sophie) tend to do best when they have someone home most of the time. :)

  10. Such a cute dog! Honestly, our furry friends drive me bananas. The labs are good dogs, but they dig. My cat is evil, but we've had her for twelve years - so she's part of the family.

    1. Our Golden digs, too. Can't have anything in the back yard because he will dig and/or eat it. Sigh.

    2. Sigh. I feel your pain. Most dogs have annoying quirks. I wish Sophie wouldn't bark like a maniac around bigger dogs. It's embarrassing. :)

Stacy, sometimes it feels like our dogs are just another kid! Toddler proof? Try dog proof, right? :)

  11. She looks just like my Maggie! And it sounds like she has the same personality. I could enjoy her a lot more if it weren't for our older doxie. He gets into everything, tears up, etc. Can't give them the run of the house because of that. Of course, there's the Golden Retriever, who's just a giant teddy bear and follows me wherever he can.

    1. Your dogs are adorable! Your Maggie and Sophie do look a lot alike. She's a sweetie! But we have to put her in her kennel when we leave or she'll chew things up too.

  12. 'Puppy partner in crime.' Love this!

Mine are a bit bigger than Sophie. I have two rotties, 100 and 130 pounds respectively. And a new addition. An old lab who was dumped in the country. No rescue group would take her, so she's now part of the family.

    1. Aw, I bet they're fun! Did they accept your new lab pretty quickly? I just love dogs!

  14. Don't tell my dachshund mix, Mystery, that it's Weiner Dog Wednesday--I'll never hear the end of it. Of course, she thinks that every day should be Weiner Dog Day. And what is it with them having to be UNDER the blankets?

    1. Too funny, Karen! Wiener dogs DO love the spotlight. I think we should have a Wednesday just for Mystery! Cute!

I love my greyhound and border collie.

  18. We have a black English Lab (they're a much smaller, calmer breed of Labs). She is the dog we will compare all future dogs to - she is so well behaved and so good with our little ones. I often tell my older girls that the dog is my best behaved child - she comes when I tell her to come, she cleans up after the twins drop food on the floor and she lays at my feet to keep them warm.

    1. I didn't realize there was a sub-category of Labs--how cool! I like smaller and calmer. Both good, good words to use!! Ha!

  19. I had a doxie when I was growing up. Alex wasn't a miniature one like your Sophie, though. He was a pudgy full-sized Daschund, and I loved him like crazy.

When I married Gwynly, I knew he was a cat person, so when we got our first pet, I accepted the fact that we'd be getting a feline friend, although I had my reservations. To my surprise, I fell in love with Snuggles, our mellow yellow tabby cat. Sadly, he died of cancer several years ago.

These days I'm kept company by two orange and white long-haired brothers who keep the lint roller people in business as I remove the residue of their hairy hugs. =)

    1. Aw, your Alex and my Sophie would have loved each other. Sophie knows her own kind and gets along great with other doxies! Bigger dogs? Not so much! And I love the name Snuggles. I totally want a cat named Snuggles now. Even if it means lint rollers... :)

  23. Sophie looks like a super friend!

We have the "yellow buffalo" here who has his nose in all things. The mostly yellow lab was rescued by a local human society after living on the streets of a local coal town. I think his fav part of being here is patrolling the floors for all the kids' food spills. Lots to eat around here that is for sure.

  25. I love your photos and the neat story for each. We're devoted to our two shelter mixed-breeds, Babe and Vinnie. They keep us active and challenge us with their quirks. Babe is a rodent terminator. She's killed three skunks before they sprayed. Vinnie can't walk in a straight line, weaves all over the place, and sometimes does donuts, even in his easy-walk harness. Oh, well. Don't tell Cesar. :)
