One of my favorite television stations is HGTV, and my go-to show is House Hunters. Every episode features someone, usually a couple, narrow their search to three properties until they make a decision and purchase one.
I'm fascinated by the wish lists everyone has. Something unimportant to me is vital to someone else, while a room I couldn't live without is so-so for them.
I started thinking about my own wish list for a dream house. I would want a large kitchen with walk-in pantry, a separate office with tons of natural light, a big wooded yard, and plenty of windows throughout to trap the sunshine.
What is on your dream house wish list? If you could have anything you wanted, what would you include?
I'm at a track meet today (and it's supposed to be 72 degrees and sunny--a rare thing for our annual track meet!!) and won't be responding to comments, but please leave one. I love to hear from you!!
Happy almost Mother's Day!
My dream house wish is a house that stays clean all the time!
ReplyDeleteIf we're talking purely dream scenerio, I say a big beautiful library overlooking a pond! :D

Eat-in kitchen with lots of windows for mega-sunshine. Huge yard with gardens and trees. A study with built-in bookcases for me, and one for my husband. And a clothesline out back so I can finally have air-dried sheets in the summertime!
ReplyDeleteFun!! A walk-in closet - I've got one now in my apartment, so I'm spoiled for life. Fireplace. Hot tub. Library. Wrap around porch. Second floor outdoor balcony with french doors. If I'm going to dream, I'm going to dream big! :)
ReplyDeleteMy dream house would be a big old Queen Anne Victorian Mansion with little alcoves, turrets, gables, porches, servant's stairway and built-in's everywhere. :)
ReplyDeleteAn office that is just for me. Key on my list. And beach-front, since this is a Dream House. But honestly, I'd just settle for the office at this point. ;)
ReplyDeleteA winding staircase in the front room. Five bedrooms or four plus a den. A large backyard with pool, built-in grill, fire pit, and large grassy area. A huge library with a large writing desk overlooking the backyard. And my kitchen would HAVE to have an island and granite countertops. Oh, and inside space that's big enough for entertaining large numbers of people. A basement would be sweet. And I always thought it would be awesome to have a ballroom. Ha! Not many of those in AZ.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I just want my own safe and clean house where I make the rules (Living with family is getting harder to bear, but lack of money forces me to stay) but yes, a BIG kitchen is simply a must, I love to bake (from scratch) and kitchens smaller than a McDonald's drive-through is NOT going to cut it.
ReplyDeleteApart from that, a just-for-me office and a spa-jet bathtub are my only non-negotiable.
It'd also be nice to have my dream house located where I can walk some places, since I'm sick of living in a car-reliant worlds, and the ability to walk some places is freeing, and I get exercise I enjoy at the same times as running errands and I'd only need
"The Family Taxi" for medical appointments/emergencies and things like that.
There's a dreamhouse in my neighborhood that is an old hollywood style mansion which whimsical topiary and a ballroom. Sadly, it's a moneypit that's growing toxic mold so hubs said "are you out of your mind!"
ReplyDeleteI would love some built in shelves and nooks and crannies like the old houses used to have. I'd love a fireplace. I would love a walk-in clothing closet and plenty of storage. That's all.
ReplyDeleteA mountain retreat where my office has large windows that look out over the hills and a large lake. I could watch the morning mists rise off the water in the fall to be captured in the hillside for awhile before fleeing from the sun at last. White swans would swim by every afternoon to tease me down to the lake. A large wraparound porch with plenty of outdoor outlets so I could use my laptop outside.
ReplyDeleteI already have many of the features of a dream home, but I think that what I miss the most is space. A large backyard with room for a garden, a pool and lots of trees for privacy. Large kitchen, walk in pantry, a studio with hardwood floors so I can fire up my torch in safety and room enough for a few students and a place in the studio where I could write with a view out of a window. Be nice to have the studio separate from the house to create a true go to work space.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming of packing the family into a bus and touring the US. Eight people in a 40-foot bus sounds.....cozy?
