Perfect! A Mini-Break!

My kids have reached the end of the first quarter, which means they get a mini-break from school. I love mini-breaks! Over the weekend, we visited both my parents and my hubby's parents, and now I get a couple of days to sleep in and lounge around.

Everyone should take a few loaf-y days now and then. Hang out in your yoga pants or pj's. Nurse that cup of coffee or hot tea. Flip through a magazine. Open a novel. Watch a trashy daytime television show.

Relax.
Lose the tension.
Let your brain turn to mush.

Sometimes you need to get off the fast track of life to refuel. I write and revise better when I take some time to putter and be lazy. My imagination needs it too. If we don't take breaks, our creativity dwindles. That's not good!

With the holidays knocking at the door, it's smart to let your mind lie fallow for a bit. The busy season will be here soon, so let's enjoy it.

Do you  take mini-breaks? What's your definition of the perfect lazy day?

Have a terrific Monday!!

  3. PJ days are a must from time to time! It is not often however a day of journaling and reading, and watching a good movie is a renewing day for me.

    1. I wonder why we put off those "renewing days" when we know they are good for us! :)

  4. I love lazy days! I plan to take all of December off from writing related work. I love watching old movies in bed, nursing that hot tea or sitting out on the patio with a quilt and reading. And napping. Lots of napping! Glad you've had a great weekend!

  5. Love mini breaks! I've actually cordoned off this coming weekend on my calendar for sleeping and catching up and basically doing whatever I want. Which will probably mean binging on Netflix and laying around in my pajamas. :)

  6. No mini breaks here. They say I'm dying, and the only breaks I take are from exhaustion, while I'm trying to cram the rest of my life into a shorter horizon.

  7. Looks like we're on the same school schedule, Jill! Wish my days were more relaxing, but I'm using the time to take kids to cello lessons, orthodontia appts, etc. Ah, well! Enjoy your break - you deserve it! :D
