November: A Time to be Thankful

November is the perfect time to be mindful of our blessings. We don't have to wait until Thanksgiving to tally the good. We can be thankful all month long!

This week I'm thankful for the grand finale of autumn colors. Leaves are heading to the ground quickly here. I'm not looking forward to gray and brown branches against a gray or white sky. Winter lacks color, so I'll enjoy the gorgeous harvest hues while I can.

I'm also grateful for my own office. The sun streams in through two large corner windows. My L-shaped desk is just the right size for  me to spread my notes out. Someday I'll add a comfy chair and ottoman to my space, but for now, it's perfect.

My silly dog adds to my life. She's playing with a toothpaste cap and barking at my daughter's closed door. Sophie loves that room and hates to see it closed.

I started a new book this week! First drafts are always fun! It usually takes me a while to build up my daily word count because my first three chapters are where I'm finding my way. I'm so thankful to be able to pour this story out!

Sometimes I take my health for granted. What a blessing to have a healthy family. Been working out all week and trying to eat better, too. Halloween candy still lurks, though, so you do the math. :)

Most of all, I'm thankful for my family and my faith. Every morning I spend time with God. And every morning He gives me the strength I need. I'll never be perfect, but I'll always be saved.

What are you thankful for this week?

Have a great weekend!

  1. What wonderful blessings, Jill! I too am grateful for the chance to tell stories, for my health, and my family. And autumn...and chocolate. Are you sure we weren't separated at birth? ;) Enjoy your blessings!

  2. Sophie sounds like a delight!

I'm grateful for the promise of the morning, and the quiet of night.

I'm grateful for my wife, and for the dogs, as demanding as they may be (dogs, not wife!)

I'm grateful for the Almighty's willingness to walk through life with me.

  3. Yes, definitely good to be thankful for our blessings every day!
I'm sad to see fall go already. Our yard is full of leaves and next week it might snow! But I am thankful for a three day weekend!

Good luck on your newest book!

  4. What a great reminder, Jill! Honestly, it would take too much space to articulate what I'm thankful for. Your list sounds pretty fantastic! Ahh, yes, those fur babies add so much joy. How can we not be thankful for their cute little bodies? Hugs!

  5. Loved this, Jill. I'm thankful for a good morning with my kids before I drove them to school. So thankful for my amazing husband, who does so much to provide for us—not only financially, but relationally. I'm thankful for good health, and for enough. We have enough to live comfortably. I'm thankful for God's patience with me when my heart begins to wander or to worry.

Thanks for the reminder to remain thankful!

  6. I'm thankful for my husband. 45 years ago today, we stood before a preacher and promised to love, honor and cherish each other 'death do us part.'

  7. I'm thankful that I still have my Mom. In her late 80's, she still drives locally and is in fairly good health. I'm blessed!

I love to hear from you!
