This is one of my favorite songs, and I had never heard it performed by Hillsong United before. Imagine my surprise when I did a little sleuthing and found out Hillsong United's lead singer, Brooke Fraser Ligertwood, wrote it!
I thought I'd share it with you in case you're unfamiliar. This version of "Lead Me to the Cross" is performed by Hillsong United, but you may have heard it sung by Francesca Battistelli or Chris & Conrad.
Each artist brings something different to it, and I have to admit, I haven't heard a version that didn't move me.
Enjoy!!
What is one of your favorite songs? Has it been sung by different artists?
Have a terrific Monday!
Love that song!! You know, I usually don't know if a group or artist is the first to perform a song. Isn't it interesting how each one who performs it brings their own style to it?
ReplyDeleteSame here, Lindsay! I've heard a few songs cross over from Contemporary Christian to Country, and I never know who the original artist is! :)
DeleteI love this song. I've been listening to Sara Groves' My Hiding Place a lot lately. I just love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR18oUZIZh8
ReplyDeleteOoo, thanks, Jessica! I'm listening to it right now--thank you for sharing. Beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Katie! This is the only song I'm familiar with, so I'll check out the rest of their music!
DeleteI love that song, too. Right now I'm in love with You Are I Am by Mercy Me.
ReplyDeleteI love Mercy Me! Good one!!
DeleteI have tons of songs I love!!! But I don't know the titles. lol And who sings it can make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the version of this song I like. I love her voice!
Same here, Jessica! I can never remember titles--ugh!
DeleteI love, love, love that song!!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!
DeleteSuch a great song. Just what I needed to hear on this crazy Monday morning.
ReplyDeleteIt IS a good Monday song, isn't it? Good point!
DeleteThat was beautiful. I also have this version of "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross" in my head, but I don't know who sings it.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite hymns, Nancy! So beautiful!
DeleteAs a huge Hillsong fan, I didn't realize anyone else sang it besides Brooke. LOL! I love singing that one anytime of year, but mostly during Lent. Right now, I'm hooked on a song called "How Love Wins" by Steven Curtis Chapman. The lyrics come from the perspective so the thief on the cross who realized who realized who Jesus was at the last moment. He longs to carry His Savior home, but realizes that His Savior will have to carry him. Just WOW. So, so true of us.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny?? I know! I didn't realize so many artists had performed it.
DeleteSteven Curtis Chapman has so many good ones. I'll have to check that one out. Thanks!!
Hi, Jill. I just had to come back and comment. There was another song I couldn't think of when I did your comment. It's "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing." I just love it. It's by some guy with a wonderful voice and I don't know who it is. Do you?
