5 Easy Questions with Lacie Nezbeth!

Every Wednesday, I ask a writer the same five easy questions. In an effort to support and promote fellow wordsmiths, I feature authors who write a variety of genres, from sweet inspirational to mainstream thrillers. The writers themselves may be aspiring, published, or best-selling--all have made an impact on my life.

Thank you for joining me in welcoming…Lacie Nezbeth!!

Lacie and I met through blogging, and it’s so easy to love her! She's an encouraging writer, and I always enjoy her blog posts. Smart and fun, Lacie stays at home with her children and writes historical novels. I’m thrilled to have her here today!

Let’s get to it!

1. Beverage of choice?

I almost always drink water. But it has to have crushed ice because I’m addicted to chomping on ice. It drives my husband crazy though. I have since heard that chewing ice lowers your body temperature so it has to work harder to keep warm, thereby burning a few extra calories. That’s probably not true, but it makes me feel good about my annoying habit. If I’m drinking something other than water, I usually choose Root Beer. Throw in two scoops of ice cream and I’m an extra happy girl.

2. Any pets?

No pets. I’m afraid we’re not pet people. At least the traditional kind. One day, I’d love to have some chickens and horses though.

3. Dream vacation?

I have two. Is that allowed? Dream #1 is an extended trip to Italy to trace my ancestry. I’ve been once before but I’d love to go back when I can speak the language better and talk to some of my distant cousins. I’m obsessed with the NBC show Who Do You Think You Are? Do you watch it? It’s basically one big trip back in time where you meet with historians and dig up tattered documents from your ancestors. Super cool…if you like that sort of thing. Dream #2 is a remote island called Turtle Island in Fiji. I’d love to go with my husband to celebrate our anniversary one year, but it’s so expensive since they only allow something like 12 couples on the island at a time…so that one will probably only happen if we win the lottery!

4. What are you listening to right now?

Right now, I’m listening to Sebastian from The Little Mermaid singing Under the Sea. My girls are in love with mermaids. Ariel in particular, so we watch this movie a lot!

5. What's for dinner?

So, my husband and I just started a crazy new workout program called Insanity, which comes with a detailed menu guide for optimal results. Thankfully, tonight’s a steak night. Although, hubby gets a baked potato and a roll with his meal and I only get a pile of steamed veggies. In what world is that fair! Good thing I like vegetables. But, for some reason, they never truly satisfy like a plate of chili cheese fries or a hot brownie sundae. Why is that?

***

Lacie, anything that helps us burn calories is good! I think adding root beer to the ice does burn even more calories. Can’t remember where I heard that. Maybe Jillian Michaels? Ha! I think it would be fun to have chickens. I’ve always enjoyed farms. Let me know if you get any. And of course you can have two dream trips! I would love to head to Europe and visit the towns my ancestors lived. But Turtle Island sounds amazing…how do you pick? Hmm...

Um, Insanity? I’ve heard of this workout and I’ve been assured it IS insanity! You’re my new hero! I think I’m the queen of exercise when I walk 2 miles. It’s good to top off a hard workout with chili cheese fries. Calcium and veggies, right? Thanks so much for being my guest today, Lacie!

From her earliest years, Lacie Nezbeth knew two things—she longed to be a stay at home mom and stories, in any form, captivated her. Today, those two passions have culminated into a fairy tale life that continually points her to God’s overflowing goodness. Her love of history, traveling and research made her decision to write Historical Romances an obvious and fitting choice. When Lacie isn’t working on one of her stories or tackling the unending mountain of laundry produced by her three small kids, she can be found chauffeuring her children to their various activities, talking to herself in the grocery store or plotting ways to get her entire family on another Caribbean cruise.

New friends are always a gift! Connect with Lacie at her blog, on Facebook, and on Twitter.

How do you celebrate spring? Do you plant flowers? Brew sun tea? Have a barbecue? I want to hear!

Have a fantastic Wednesday!

  1. You are so brave. I workout, but I'm pretty sure I'm not dedicated enough for insanity.

I like to plant flowers for spring...then I promptly kill them within the next few months. :)

    1. Hi Julie! I don't think I can be called dedicated when it comes to working out. Our Insanity program is NOT an every day thing like it was designed to be. :) But we're working on it!!

  2. Fun interview! Mmm...now I want a root beer float...and it's only 9 a.m.!

I celebrate spring by rearranging my walk-in - springy clothes get the most prominent spot in the closet now. :)

  5. L, you know we're twins, right? Root beer, dislike of pets even if I have one, crunching ice and Italy. Well you know you're fabulous, both of you ladies are!

I take naps in my hammock for spring...until it broke with me in it! :) Traitor!

  6. Fun to know more about you, Lacie! (I read your bio...we're going on a Caribbean cruise this summer!! So excited!)

Hmm...spring...that's like, 2 days here in Phoenix. It transitions from cold to hot before you know it. sigh. But I love to sit outside on my patio and read when it's nice out. Now that I have a puppy, I have to watch out for wet paws (we have an unfenced pool...), but other than that, it's heavenly.

    1. Hi Jessica! I always tell my kids not to chew ice either. Hypocritical, I know! :) But it does crack me up when I see them shake their cup of ice the exact way I do it. Makes you realize just how much our kids mimic us...kinda scary!

Sipping tea outside...and staring at almost ready to bloom flowers...that signals springtime for me.

  9. Fun interview, ladies!

Lacie, I love - Who do you think you are? We watch it every week.

We celebrate spring by noting the changes in nature on our daily walks. It's so amazing to see the flowers open and dance in a spring rain.

  13. Nice to meet you, Lacie. I applaud you for doing the Insanity workout. I wanted to do P90X for a while. You've inspired me to kick it up a notch.

I wish you success in your writing!

Thanks for introducing Lacie to us, Jill.

    1. Hi Brandi, So nice to meet you too! Please don't be too impressed with my workout. Truth is, my husband and I took a little break to really enjoy all the Easter goodies and are struggling to get back into the program. And I gotta say, the warm-up alone on those videos is almost enough for me! They kick my butt before the real workout even begins! Haha!

  14. Hi Lacie and Jill! Great interview! I'm all about Italy! I'm not much of a pet person either, though we do have a few b/c hubby and the kids love them. *sigh*

    1. Hi Ralene, Italy is beautiful! I was lucky enough to go on a mission trip to a little community outside of Venice...gosh, about ten years ago now. It was breathtaking! Of course we had to stay a little longer and tour Venice and Rome! There is some serious history there! :)

My kids are just now starting to ask for a dog but they don't get very far with my hubby! Maybe when their older...maybe! Haha

  15. Lacie: No pets? No wonder you have to chew ice to de-stress! HA! I am a long-time cat addict.

I remember when my daughter went through a Little Mermaid phase. Sigh... so glad she's grown. How her daughter does Dora!

    1. Hi Jeanette! Dora is big in our home too. Thankfully, it's one of the few kids shows I can stand. (Don't get me started on Max and Ruby!) When I was a little girl, I found a stray kitten behind my elementary school and somehow smuggled her home. She was a cuddly friend...until she ran away! :)

  16. Hi Ladies -

I enjoyed the interview. I'm in the A/C stage - after cats. :) They were fun while I had them, but the vet bills and finding someone to cat sit make them impractical at this point in my life.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

    1. Hi Stina, Thanks for visiting today (or yesterday) :) I suspect the reason I drink so much water is because I'm not a fan of most other beverages (not because I'm overly healthy). I don't drink coffee, don't particularly like tea, I can't ever seem to finish a soda...so water is it for me. :)

  20. Great interview with Lacie! The first time I met her was in the workshop I was teaching at church about "Equipping Women." At the end of the workshop I told her it was refreshing to see young women who love the Lord and aim at being a good wife and mother. On top of that, she is an awesome creative writer. Lacie has a fun spirit and a beautiful smile. Best wishes and blessings on the novel she is writing.

    1. Hi Shay, Thanks for the comment. I assure you I'm not at all fascinating! :) Actually, when Jill generously asked if I'd be here today, I said I'd do my best but that I'd probably bore her readers to tears. Glad I didn't make anyone cry! LOL
