One Goal Friday: August 6, 2010

The good news? Summer hasn't quit yet. The bad news? It's ending soon. But hey, I love watching college football and even some NFL, so at least I have something to look forward to.

I forced myself to resume the jogging regimen. After only a week off, the exercise was much easier than I expected, and it--I can't believe I'm admitting this--felt great.

It's Friday! Time to set and review our goals.

Last week, my goal was to attend the county fair. I met that goal and enjoyed french fries and funnel cake on top of it. Score! We lingered in the bunny barn, ran into our friends throughout the fair, and even got to pet a five-hour-old calf. (Thanks, Dee!)

Here are your goals.

Wendy: Complete revisions on first 50 pages of Partridge
Heather: Come up with blogging plan, check out research books, and read The Help
Jessica: Think of a goal (after the RWA fun, I'm guessing you had no trouble!)
Jen: Write a humor column for the paper
Diane: Get on the treadmill (and hack away at the to-be-read pile)
Erica: Walk three times (Yay! You finished your ms!)
Paul: Yoga and stretching three days
Patti: Finish The Rhythm of Secrets, teach class, prepare lesson, and plan conference
Sherrinda: Survive first week back to work (No cranky pants!)
Cindy: Prepare for ACFW conference (woo-hoo!)
Loree H: Get three more chapters revised (Praying for Hannah. Any improvement?)
Beth: Survive hubby going back to work and write 10k words
Jackee: Reorganize writing space and research an article
CJ: Refrain from destroying slow computer
Jennifer: Jogging and spinning (you're my hero)
Katie: Get to pg. 150 revising

So, how did you do? These are great goals! I hope you all had fun meeting them.

My goal for this week is to soak in nature, be contemplative, nourish my silly side, and enjoy a very, very slow pace.

What about you? What one goal would enhance your life this week?

Please leave your goal in the comment section. Newcomers are welcome to participate, and don't worry if you can't stop by every Friday--my blog's goal isn't to add stress but to be a place of support.

I will be offline until August 11. I love to read your goals and comments, so please leave one. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Yippee, I'm first! Not that it's anything to brag about, but it feels fun.

So glad you got to visit the fair. We love the bunnies, too. I'd like to take one home, but bunnies and four cats won't mix well.

I did write a new column for the paper, and started a humor article, too!

My goal for this week is to finish a guest blog article on humor writing before we leave on vaction, Aug. 13.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I really enjoy your Friday topic. Well, I didn't perform percussive maintenance on my computer. I'm now looking into upgrading the OS from Vista to 7

  3. Good Morning!

Jen: Way to go! You must be so excited about your trip! And I'd take a bunny (or seven) home too, but we have a guinea pig, cat, and dog. That's plenty!

CJ: Upgrade it! Although I kept thinking how fun it would be for a bunch of us to take turns with a sledgehammer. ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  5. The yoga did not happen but a fair amount of stretching did. Still, I did not meet the goal. Maybe next week:-)

  6. Did 4 chapters this week. Almost done with the book! Yay!

Hannah is much better. Vertigo gone. Thank you for your prayers.

Wish you all could see the hummingbirds at my house. I have four to six constantly buzzing my feeders. Beautiful winged jewels.

    Have a great weekend all.

  9. Glad to hear the return to jogging went smoothly... sometimes a week off is just what you need.

My goal this week is to have a plan of attack... figure out some activities to do with the kids, set up some play dates & prepare for my interview on Friday. I have been drifting too long after holidays... I NEED a plan!

  10. I like reading everyone goals! This is fun.

Ok, my goal this week is to write every day, even if it's only a little bit.

  11. #1: Keep my closeness to God and my prayer life thriving. Query agents and work on my new novel and a picture book, too. Plus, prepare for home-school and co-op. I'm teaching high school journalism this year. Whew. Even if I only work on bits of each one, I'll be happy.

And exercise too. I love your soak in nature goal, Jill. Since I live on a farm, I do that everyday. hehe

  13. Oh yea! Well, I never posted my goals for last week, but it was to take my conference attendance another step forward and get into a critique workshop...and I've done it. Come Oct. 1st, I'm going to be a wreck. So that leads me to my biggest goals for the next few weeks (due dates for the contest and critique workshop are Sept. 3) Come up with an idea for the contest entry, write it, retweak it about 500 times and submit by the end of the month. The other goal is to work on my novel. I need to write my heiny off and start revisions so I can submit something decent on Sept. 3. I'm so nervous.

  14. My goal: to get along w/ my hubby. We seem to be fighting a lot these days and it'd be nice to get along this weekend.
