Your Tips to Streamline Your Writing

Last week I shared the tips I use to streamline my writing process. You can read about it here. I asked you to share your tips, and boy, did you. I loved the creative responses.

Are you ready for them?

I've divvied them up into different classifications.

  • Eat chocolate
  • Have a glass of wine
  • Coffee--lots and lots of coffee!
  • Use an egg timer
  • Form a critique group
  • Finish one session with direction for the next
  • Daydream about book at night to jump start the next day's session
  • Visualize next scene before writing
  • Write at an "unplugged" computer
  • Keep a writing log
  • Set up your writing materials as a reward for doing an unpleasant chore
  • Keep a journal for ideas
  • Write down goals before social networking
  • Don't let anything interfere with writing time
  • Keep your goals front and center--written down in front of you
  • Review outline before bed
  • Pray
  • Write through storms, write in storms, write about storms, and wait for the rainbow
  • Write through the fear
  • Free yourself from goals and expectations
  • Be quiet and listen when necessary
  • Reward yourself after writing
Thank you all for sharing your tips to streamline your writing. This list is so great, I'm printing it out!
Join me on Friday to set one goal!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  7. Great list! I'm going to try some of these out. One thing I've noticed is that I need to be more purposeful with my writing time, seeing as I def don't have a lot of it right now.

  8. Great list for getting the juices flowing!

  9. I absolutely love this list as well. Gotta have a lot of faith!

  10. What a wonderful list. I especially like the "eat chocolate" one. ;-)

  13. I especially love the edible tips! Thanks for sharing these.

  14. I especially like #2 and #3 in the Inspirational category. That number 3 on the edibles list is my personal modus operandi goes without saying. That's how I roll. :)

  15. These are great tips. I think I need to bookmark this page!

  16. I love the edible ones too. Coffee, chocolate, wine? It's like the trifecta! :)

  17. I definitely need to work on "Don't let anything interfere with your writing time." I'm so easily distracted.

    Great list, Jill!

  18. You certainly put things together well. Part of creativity is being able to poke things in, take them out and move them, change them a bit. So, we now all have a great list we can use. Thanks.
