Christmas Lights! One Minute Vacay: Dec 10

Who else LOVES outdoor Christmas lights?

The Toledo Zoo hosts an annual outdoor light display, and it is amazing. On weekends, people wait in line for up to an hour to get in and see the "singing trees," the colorful lights dripping from every bush and tree, not to mention the lights shaped like animals or the tunnel made out of light hoops. It's festive, fun, and worth every penny.

Since not everyone can make it to the zoo, I found this fun outdoor light display for you instead!

Enjoy!!

Do you decorate the outside of your house for Christmas?

Have a fabulous Monday!!

  1. Our zoo has an impressive Christmas lights display. Which reminds me. My kids wanted to see it this year. We haven't been since they were really little. You have to time it for when it's not freezing, which isn't easy this year. The weather has been colder than normal. :(

    1. It's been warmer than normal here--but it's also been rainy. :( We still want to get to the lights at the zoo as a family before Christmas. It's always fun!

  2. My kids would love this!!!
I would love to decorate my house on the outside but a certain someone thinks it's tacky so I stick to indoors. :-)

    1. A certain someone might be trying to get out of exterior illumination... :) Ha!

  3. I've always wanted to do more outdoor decorating...someday.

My sister-in-law got engaged at the Toledo Zoo lights...

    1. Aw, that's so sweet about your sis-in-law! My hubby lit up our porch and bushes this year. It looks pretty!

  4. That was fun. Himself used to put out a lighted nativity, gingerbread men lining the walkway, mechanical deer, and a Santa with a list, but now it either snows before he can get the display up or he's too busy with work

    1. I know! I'd love to see this house in person! We have the same problem w/lighting that you do. It's either too cold or we're too busy...

  5. Last night we all piled in the car and drove around the, ahem, wealthier parts of the city to look at all of their Christmas lights. Fun! Although not quite as fun as each year growing up, driving to the town known for the tackiest light displays possible!

We don't do outdoor lights because we're lazy. True story! We did set up our Christmas tree in front of our big picture window, though, so it's as least visible from outside.

  6. Wow - that's an incredible display you've shared! We have an arboretum close by that has some beautiful light displays, but I have a feeling it doesn't compare to the Toledo Zoo! :)

    1. Arboretum's usually do a great job! We went to one in Richmond Virginia several years ago, and the lights were gorgeous. It's worth a try!

  7. My husband had a blue spotlight he'd aim at the house. Oddly enough, Martha Stewart did NOT come visit. The kids still openly mock him. "Hey dad, why not shine the blue light on the house again? All the neighbours are begging."
I reserve the glitz for the inside. And even then, I don't go crazy. Our house is too small for that.
But the tree is colour coordinated. Down to the ribbons. ANd if I could find a wood chipper to accidently drop the not that bad twinkle lights into so I could justify getting new ones, I would.

    1. What? Martha didn't feature you? :) So funny! Our lights died two years ago so we did break down and buy new!

  8. That's hilarious! My husband hates putting up lights so we never do, but there's an awesome light display at our local botanical gardens, and we visit it every couple years.

  9. That was different. I like how the star tree reacted to what the face was singing.

I used to put up red ribbon on my stairs to look like candy canes. I did this for about four years and got tired of it. That's all I do. I wish I knew how to put out a bit more.

  10. We did several years ago. I am not very agile. It was fun putting them up because the weather was warm. But when it came time to take them down, it was cold. I liked the Christmas tree as it seems to keep time to the music.
