Moldy Pumpkins

We have four pumpkins on our porch. It's November 9. That's 9 days past Halloween. Two of these pumpkins are moldy. Their creepy faces reveal black souls, which is fitting for Halloween decorations and all, but really--it's well into November. Why haven't I thrown these things out??

Here they are before Halloween, when they still looked sweet and happy.

All my fall decorations, including pumpkins and black cats, lurk around the house. I have not put them away. I will not put them away.

They will disappear into the basement when I chug, chug, chug the Christmas boxes upstairs and not one minute before. That's how I roll.

Moldy pumpkins.

Okay, who else is super lazy when it comes to this stuff? Let me know if you have moldy pumpkins on your porch still!

Have an amazing weekend!

  1. I am super lazy, but Myles wanted to keep his pumpkin inside so I tossed it two days after Halloween because it smelled.

I saw a show once that said after you scoop out the cuts, if you'll soak the pumpkin in bleach it takes care of future mold and smells. I was going to do that, but I was super lazy. :)

    1. Yeah, bleaching means...work. I'm way-ay-ay too lazy for that! Smart idea, though!

  2. LoL...ME! My daughter's moldy pumpkin still sits on our porch...haven't gotten close enough to it to see if it smells. Not looking forward to throwing that puppy out!

    1. Ha! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I really need to toss those nasty things in the trash!

  3. Um, no dead pumpkins, but lotsa dead mums. Oh, and my groceries are still in the bag, sitting tucked into a corner of my dining room from yesterday. I DID put away the cold stuff...I think. My defense for that is putting them away cut into my scheduled writing time. The mums, well, that's just lazy;)

    1. Ha! Yeah, I'm the same way. The only reason I get the groceries off the floor and into the pantry is because of my dog. She'll tear into anything left out!

  4. No. My husband baked them the next day to convert into whatever he wanted to make at the time. No idea what happened to them beyond that.

I can totally relate to what Susan said. My writing always comes first. :D

    1. Nice! You don't even have to know what happened to them when the hubs deals with it. I like it!

Writing should come first, right? :)

  5. We got rid of ours (finally) on Monday. But it was sad. So very sad. The mums still look fresh and pretty though. :)

  6. My pumpkins never get moldy. They are a plastic that can be carved. Himself carved them a few years ago. And I simply turn them around so the carving can't be see and whalla! I'm all set for Thanksgiving! The skeleton is still hanging on the back of the livingroom door. Scarecrow and Indian corn on the front door. I didn't take down the witch the Eldest gave me for no special reason. I love Halloween. It doesn't last long enough

    1. Perfect! Carved, plastic pumpkins--great idea! And I'm so glad all your spooky decor is still in place. :)

  7. I do, but I'm considering them Thanksgiving decorations. ;)

    1. Ooo, I didn't think of that. That's my plan too. I'll just call them Thanksgiving decorations!

  8. I noticed today that I haven't put the garden quite to bed yet. I need to cut some things back, bring in the bunny and squirrel figurines, and get it all tucked in for winter. I wonder if I'll get it done? :D

    1. I know. I've left figurines out too long and had their little ears break off. *sad face* Good luck!

  9. I have a half eaten pumpkin. The squirrels have been feasting on it.

  10. Hi Jill.

Not having Halloween here, but I keep Christmas decorations and tree sometimes up to February, even when the Carnival period starts :). Not so much out of laziness (ok, maybe a little), but mostly because I love Christmas and I want to keep them as much as possible :).

    1. I love Christmas too! It's so cold, snowy, and icy here, Christmas decorations stay up through February and sometimes March! :)

  11. LOL, Jill. I was lazy and didn't CARVE the pumpkins, so even though they are on the porch, they aren't moldy.

    1. They are technically Thanksgiving decorations then--no need to feel guilty about that!
