Writer's Survival Guide 29: What's in Your Survival Kit?
As a writer, I have a lot of tricks to keep me writing. My laptop, chocolate, cute pens, my idea journal, my ginormous thesaurus--and coffee! So naturally, I'm curious about your tricks.
Tell me, what are the essentials in YOUR writer's survival kit?
Have an awesome Monday!
Popcorn. :) And Tylonel
ReplyDeleteHa, ha!! Motrin for me... :) Funny!
DeleteDiet Dr. Pepper. Computer. Writing Craft books. My writing friends. Chocolate. Running shoes (I get a lot of my ideas when I run). Notebook in my purse. :D
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love Diet Dr. Pepper! That's so awesome you run. I work out a lot of problems when I walk or jog outside. You're onto something!!
DeleteHeadphones and Pandora. Maybe a few pieces of chocolate. And coffee.
ReplyDeleteCool, Susan! I don't listen to anything while I write, but I love having standards or classical jazz on while I cook. I need to get music out more often. :)
DeleteOh! What is it about cooking and jazz that just seem to go together? I'm all about my Ella Fitzgerald station when I'm in the kitchen.
DeleteJulie J is talking about tricks today too. :-) I like chocolate and a glass of water. :-) Silence helps too. LOL
ReplyDeleteSilence is a huge trick to pull off! Water works for me too. It even perks me up when I'm tired. :)
DeleteAlpha Smart, Laptop, outline and character file, pencils, sticky notes. And SILENCE too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI've looked into the Alpha Smarts, and they just seem smart. So portable! And without all the distractions...
Deletechocolate, hot chocolate or coke, depending on where I'm writing and the temp outside, my laptop, my brain, a babysitter for my kids, and a STELLAR idea that makes my stomach jitter at the thought of being able to put it down on paper!
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate and Coke are always key! The stellar idea--I wish I could package that and buy it in a store! :)
DeleteCoffee, Diet Coke with Lime and on my good days, a glass of water. That way I've got all my beverage choices and never have to leave my desk. Hehehe...
ReplyDeleteMmmm, I like the way you think! Smart!!
DeleteI blogged about the same thing today. My latest trick is to use a stopwatch to track how much time I'm actually writing. I also need eyedrops (because I write early in the morning), coffee, and my warmest blanket.
ReplyDeleteWe're sharing a brain today, Julie! I love the idea of having a stopwatch. Cool!!
DeleteLaptop, research books, coffee shop. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck, check, and double check. Yep, you're good to go!
DeleteI cannot write without iced tea. It is my fuel. :) Hope your writing is going well, Jill!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Kathy! Coffee is MY fuel! :) Thanks!!
DeleteDefinitely music for me, I use my iPod a lot. Music actually helps me focus. (Odd I know...) lol
ReplyDeleteI also have to have plenty of pens, a notebook, research notebook, candy...
I know quite a few people who write with music. I think it's cool!
DeleteTea. That's about it...okay, maybe some cookies and chocolate...I had to switch to dark which is not nearly as fun, in my opinion. :)
ReplyDeleteCookies and chocolate are always welcome in my writing kit!
DeleteI used to use a notebook. Now I use the computer mostly. I like to have a few dictionaries handy. I need a pen and scratch paper for notes, tissue, highlighters (in case I make a great point, ha ha.) That's about it. I keep it pretty simple.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Nancy. Longhand and I do not mix. I love my computer!
DeleteMy iPod.
ReplyDeleteNeed my music.
Love it! :)
DeleteLOL! That picture cracked me up!
