Is the fantastic life always glamorous? Well, the word life is in it, so I'm guessing no. A large portion of anyone's life involves chores. Food doesn't magically land in the refrigerator, the house will need to be vacuumed, and you still have to pack your own suitcase for vacation.
Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking, well, isn't that what a maid is for?
Even if you get a maid, you still have certain responsibilities you can't pawn off. No one can exercise for you or shower for you. You will need to come up with the money to pay the maid and writing out a check will be involved. No one lives a glamorous life every minute of every day.
It isn't unreasonable to have an expectation of how much glamour you would like, though. If I could rate each day by a glam factor based on choice of clothing, I would have the following categories.
5 Star--Little Black Dress
4 Star--Skinny Jeans
3 Star--White T-Shirt
2 Star--Stained Khakis
1 Star--Nasty Sweat Pants
I aim for mostly White T-Shirt and Skinny Jeans days. There will be plenty of Stained Khakis days but hopefully only a handful of Nasty Sweat Pants days. Throw in a Little Black Dress day twice a year, and I'm ecstatic.
What would your five-star glam factor rating look like?
Before I sign off, I want to share some of my friends' fantastic news. If you haven't heard, the lovely T. Anne of White Platonic Dreams landed an agent--Rachelle Gardner! Also, the talented Erica Vetsch of On the Write Path showed up several times on the Heartsongs Presents 18th Annual Awards Winners list! If you haven't had a chance to congratulate them, I've linked their blogs so stop on by!
Join me on Friday to talk about the fine line between keeping it real and TMI.
I have an unofficial uniform on the days I work. Black pants, leopard print ballet slippers, a frilly shirt, with either my favorite denim jacket or a cardigan. I know my coworkers get tired of seeing it, but it's my go-to outfit.
ReplyDeleteHuh. I've never had a rating. I guess I prefer No-Makeup and flip flop days, but I do enjoy dressing up for work too...:-)
ReplyDeleteI just heard about T. Anne!!! Awesome. And I didn't know about Erica. Will have to give her a shout-out.
If I could get into a pair of skinny jeans, that would be a 5 star day! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove Rachelle's post today.
ReplyDeleteYeah for T. Anne and Erica. Rockin' ladies!
I'm a white T-shirt gal myself. Love 'em. Going to pair that with a flowing skirt as well (and pretend we aren't buried by snow here).
~ Wendy
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteJulie: Your go-to outfit sounds delightful! I can totally picture leapord ballet flats and a cute frilly shirt. Now I want to go shopping... :)
Jessica: No makeup and flip-flops--yum! You're killing me! I don't even think I've seen my bare feet in two months, it's so cold here!
CJ: I hear you!! *wink*
Wendy: I can see you in a white T-shirt and flowing skirt. For me, I'd pair it with jeans. They are hands-down my favorite item of clothing!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
A hoodie and athletic pants is all I would wear if I could get away with it. Now to only BE athletic!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the skinny jeans, but here in New England with more than a foot of snow today, I'd pair them with a long sweater. And always leather boots, either ankle or knee-high, depending. 5-Star casual-chic.
ReplyDeleteOver Christmas break my girls and I watched a gazillion What Not to Wear episodes. So even though I prefer the t-shirt and jeans, I am branching out by hopping around town in my slacks, cute blouse, little blazer and heels. And I must say a feel a little less like homeschool mom and more like WOMAN. So if nothing else I'm throwing heels into my five star day category:)
ReplyDeleteYour glam rating system sounds just like mine. But instead of nasty sweats, I would have to say nasty pajamas.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the jeggings these days. What are they? Jeans? Leggings? I don't know! But they're cute and they're comfy!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I have way more sweat pant days than anyone should be allowed. In fact, I have sweat-pants-with-busted-elastic days! Now, if only I COULD pay someone to shower for me, just think of all the time I could save.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably the exact opposite of "glam." But I do like to get dressed up every now and again.
ReplyDeleteAs far as my glam factor...I'd say I probably have the white t-shirt days and that's how I prefer it.
:-)
Right now my 5 Star is my 'gestapo' coat that is tight, and WARM. No matter what I wear underneath, it looks good, feels glamorous.
ReplyDeleteJessica: I do that too! Put on yoga pants in the hope I get yoga results without actually doing it!
ReplyDeleteJoanne: I want the outfit you just described! Very cool!
Kara: Ooo-la-la! You're a stylish homeschool mama!
Susan: Yeah, I have those too. Can't bring myself to throw them out!
Katie: Oh yeah, jeggings! It reminds me of the commercial I keep seeing for Pajama Jeans. Sadly, they intrigue me.
Georgiana: Does anyone NOT have busted elastic sweat pants? :)
Melissa: Nothing wrong with a good old white T-shirt!
Lynn: Your coat sounds like perfection! Tight and warm? Does not describe most winter coats!

Aw, thank you for the shout out! ANd I LOVE your glam factor! I think mine would look exactly like yours, which reminds me I haven't put that little black dress on in quite sometime. And I think I'd have to switch out the one star for yoga pants, which I seem to live in. It's a moms right. If I really want to jazz up my day I through on some jeans.
ReplyDeleteBanana Republic cotton pj pants, ARMY tshirt, fluffy slippers, pillow, and coffee mug
ReplyDeleteYep! :) that's my list :)
Hmmmm. After watching 'What Not To Wear' last night, my snow day attire would definitely NOT make the glam factor rating! I'll have to give that some thought!
ReplyDeleteA big congrats to T. Anne and Erica Vetsch! Major accomplishments!!
Have a blessed day! :)
I'll have to take notes for Friday's post. I love to TMI. :O)
ReplyDeleteT Anne: I have a new pair of yoga pants that must have come with super glue because I love these babies. Can't get them off!
ReplyDeleteJaime: Banana Republic has such soft cotton. Nice!
Maria: Love that show! Those are some brave souls!
Diane: Don't we all? :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
5- a brightly colored dress with heels
ReplyDelete4- killer black boots and cool jeans
3- jeans and a cardigan
4- sweats
5- mismatched sweats
I'm living almost 100% in the 2-3 range these days!
Aw, Jill, thank you for the shout out. Made my day!
ReplyDeleteI'm with CJ, if I could get into skinny jeans...that would be a 5 star, 4 diamond and partridge in a pear tree kinda day.
I'm all about boot-cut! Flatters my figure more, I suppose. Anyway, I put that with a solid color tee and I'm all set to go. Except for the days when I decide to wear a jean skirt instead.
ReplyDeleteErin: I like your wardrobe. Can I snoop through your closet? :)
ReplyDeleteErica: Big Congrats!! So cool to see the lists! And thanks for making me laugh--I think we all feel that way about skinny jeans!
Abby: Boot-cut is a girl's friend! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Big congrats to T.Anne and Erica!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a cardigan sweater and jeans kind of gal. But if I have to work, I love a snazzy pants suit. Oh, and I love wearing dress boots. Heels b/c I'm short.
Heather: Pants suits are great in the winter. Just the thought of putting on a skirt makes me cold! And I'm with you on the heels!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
Jill - I hate sweat pants but I just got a little black dress. I certainly hope it rates 5 stars. I love boot cut jeans and any t-shirt that fits me perfectly (right). I think your rating system is too cute.
ReplyDeleteIf only every day could be a little black dress day. Awesome rating scale. :)
