If I could have anything today...

Do you ever finish a task and stop and wonder if you could have any random things today, what would they be? Since this is one-minute vacation month, there are rules.
1. The random things must be utterly selfish. Sure, we all want health for our loved ones and world peace; we don't have to spell those out. Today, it's all about you!
2. They can be as unrealistic as you want. Mine are all ridiculous. That may be why I love them.

What would you want? An object, an experience, or even a feeling?

Here are the things I want--and, no, I'm not going to have them today, but thinking of them puts such a huge smile on my face that it hardly matters.

First, I'd magically appear in Paris, where my husband and I would sit at a small table and speak in French. I'm not sure what we'd talk about, but I know it would be really interesting. Does it matter that I attempted to learn French a few years ago and gave up midway through the first CD? Of course not! No need to rain on my fantasy parade.

Next up, Maine. I need a lobster, people. Doesn't this guy look yummy? I'm salivating over drawn butter, small potatoes, and a heaping helping of biscuits. I can almost feel his claw shell cracking, revealing the white, succulent flesh. Mmmm...

After lunch, I am leaping in the air, contorting my body in dance. Have I mentioned how much I adore dancing? I love the fact every muscle in my body applauds. I love that my body can bend and twist and keep a beat. I love kicking, leaping, twirling, feeling the under-thrum of each tune. Unfortunately, one must dance often or the flexibility and core strength disappear...but...enough of that! This is my vacay, and I'm a bendy ballerina in it.

But now that I've indulged in some solo-dancing, I think I'll spice it up a bit. That's right, Mama needs to Tango! First of all, I love the heels this lady is wearing. Second of all, how fun would it be to tango with my husband? All dressed up fancy, strutting our way across a hardwood dance floor? Someday, I'll wear him down about the ballroom dance lessons. Someday.

Now you know what my Wednesday fantasy involves, you know I want to hear yours! Any long-forgotten dreams? Travel destinations? Tango sessions?

Thank you very much for stopping by and indulging my daydreams!

  1. Two words: Bora Bora. :0)

I'd love to go there anytime, but I am so over this winter thing.

  2. Just look at that dancer on the beach. She got some air!

Hmm... I want to eat out every meal today. I'd love to go to that awesome little antique store I had to rush through last week, take my time, and worry not about the price tags, but just buy. I want to procure a copy of the movie I've been wanting to see, but that doesn't come out on DVD until the end of this month, and watch it by myself. And, of course, say it with me, Jill, I want chocolate. Something fancy and rich.

  3. Dancing with the Stars Jill! I love it!

Right now my fantasy would be to escape to the North Carolina mountains with my husband on one arm and my bestselling novel in the other.

  4. Given my food allergies and diabetes, I'd love to be able to indulge in any food of my choice--candy, pastries, french fries. lol... And to share in that with all immediate family who are spread across the country this holiday season.

  6. I have no dancing abilities whatsoever so am jealous of yours. Exotic, hot, cabana, light breeze, blue water, ahhhhhhhhh.

  7. I love the pic of the dancer on the beach!

Let's see, my fantasty would involve having a great big house, and a housekeeper to go with it. Also, since I adore a good cup of coffee, Starbucks would be on-call.

  8. Okay, throw me and my husband on a boat in the middle of the ocean. We can be lost. That's fine. Give me a lovely drink...a chocolate milkshake will do fine. Then, drop me ashore for my concert with the Celtic woman where my children would gather around me singing gloriously along.
    Fun fantasy!

  9. Love your three things! Mine?

-I'd appear in a cabin in the woods with a fireplace, my laptop, and the internet (just in case I need to do some last minute research). Heaven.

    - A housecleaner to make my home sparkle.

    - Somebody to come and change my son's poopy diaper. Doody calls. That was a horrible, horrible pun.

  10. I would love a real studio not just space in the basement where I could make art without interruption. Guess I would need a housekeeper and a cook too.

  11. It's snowing here today, so it makes me wish for a chalet nestled in the Vermont mountains, a fireplace roaring, a latte in hand.

  12. I want to be in a Japanese hot spring with monkeys playing around me!

  13. I turned back the clock to my youth. I hold the time machine for me and my lovely wife Renee. She wants to go shopping around the world. I love that because I can give her what she wants on the special day. I'll do anything for her when she calls me Hubby Darlin'. I'' even toss the time machine that sets us in a window of dreams.

  14. I'd be magic so I could wave a wand around and my house would be clean.

  15. My dream is to travel. Anywhere and everywhere. And maybe to eat carbs all day and never gain an ounce.

  16. How fun!

    1. I would magically appear in New Zealand where I would paddle in the sea, then turn and be amazed at the beautiful mountains.

    2. I would find myself in the Egyptology department of The British Museum with several days to stroll and read and look and learn.

    3. I would find myself in possession of a GINORMOUS Amazon.com gift card...like $4000 worth. :) Merry Christmas to ME!

  17. Definitely right there in the Paris moment with ya. I'm sure that six years worth of French lessons would come rushing back, right???
And then, to click my heels together and magically appear in Manhattan for an unlimited Christmas shopping spree, followed by lunch at the Plaza and ice skating at Rockefeller Center. Yeah.
    All expenses paid, of course!
Woo-hoo. Thanks, Jill, that was the BEST one (or two, or five) minute vacation so far!

  18. You know how to throw a one-minute vacation, Jill! I'm loving this series.

Since this is fantasy, I'd sing like Sandi Patty, be fluent in sign language, and, of course, have a shelf lined with my published books.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  19. I'd go snorkelling in the Virgin Islands. Warm water packed with colorful life.

  20. Boy, you guys really know how to come up with fantastic fantasy items!! I am absolutely snagging a few. I can't believe I didn't throw housekeeper on my list. Or Bora-Bora. Or a money-is-no-object shopping spree. Or Japanese hot springs with dancing monkeys!!

It made my day to come home and read all of these amazing and creative Wednesday vacations!

Thanks so much for not only stopping by, but sharing your get-aways with me!

Can't wait to check back later!

  21. I'd totally settle for a 3 hour long full body massage!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Today I'd want something simple. Hot bath and sleep. But if you ask me again tomorrow I think it'd be much more elaborate, including palm trees and hammocks and all matter of fruits and delicious drinks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's so much more fun than I was thinking. I just wanted to lie in bed, in my pajamas, and read all day. Much more exciting fantasies, you have.

  24. There's definitely a common theme of rest here! I agree. I'm this close to grabbing a stack of magazines and my remote and heading to the couch!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  25. My fantasies (at least those I feel comfortable sharing on a public site!) are: executing a full backbend; perfecting a Pasa Doble (sp?) dance routine with Max from Dancing with the Stars; consuming vast quantities of BBQ ribs & chocolate cake & champagne with no calorie after effects; strolling hand-in-hand with my husband on a deserted beach at sunset. Thanks for the fantasies, Jill! Patrice

  26. On this cold and windy December day, I'm dreaming of Hawaii!! Soaking up some sun before kayaking and scuba diving! Some Hawaiian Luau entertainment around a large, scrumptious dinner would be the perfect ending to a perfect dream day!

  27. To be rich enough not to have to work, so I could write, read, blog, read, and write. With some food thrown in now and then, at restaurants in Singapore, Ireland, Paris(France, not Illinois!), and Hawaii.

Did i mention reading and writing?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jill, travel to Ireland. And buy a castle there. And be mobbed by autograph seekers. Seeking me, because my best selling novel was made into a movie. AND, THE MOVIE WON 15 ACADEMY AWARDS. Whew. Dang. It was good in dream land. But HARD comin' back to reality. SHOOT! :)

  29. Ooh! This is fun!

Ok, so I'd be magically transported to Italy. I'd go to Monterosso and spend the day with my friend Tara hiking and hanging out at the beach and drinking lots of wine. Afterwards my children would magically appear for an hour. We'd cuddle and read books and hang out and then some fabulous Italian nanny would whisk them away to bed. Next up my husband would come to take me to dinner. We'd go to an amazing Italian restaurant and eat and drink lots of wine.

Ok, now I want this all to happen right now.

  30. oh I would magically appear in a loft apartment in Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC .. south of Broad. and have wine and cheese and then coffee and cheesy bread.. and a bunch of movies to watch and my sweetie there.. and nowhere to be for days and a big comfy chair and big down comforter and candles and a view.. gotta have the view.. and then we'll go out to the beach and watch the waves, breathe in the ocean air and listen to the sea gulls and just .. be.

  31. Love the shoes she is wearing also (I had to click on the picture to see them).

I would love to have a castle secluded in trees with a path that leads through the trees, through a patch of green fields, and beautiful gardens. Of course, it would also have some gardeners (since my green thumb is absolutely not green) and some cleaning help (since I have a hard enough time keeping up after this brood and we only have 1,600 sq. ft.). It would have a huge library with one of those fireplaces that is so large you can almost stand up in it, um when it's not burning of course.

Oh, and a Dunkin Donuts Bavarian Creme Donut. I haven't had one of those in over 12 years. We don't have Dunkin' Donuts nearby anymore.

There, totally selfish (Okay it would be for the whole family, but I'd probably be the happiest one). Gee, I was really getting into that dream.

  32. Thanks, you just got my creative mind working again and I'm now off to write, yippeee!

  33. Love this post! I was so there with you. But if I did really have to say for myself... Tuscany, Italy calls me. I can picture a beautiful cottage overlooking green pastures, lots of sunshine, and me sitting by the patio with morning cafe. Okay, I woke up now! What? where's the sun? all I see is snow! Great! back to reality. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. :D
