Did Your Project Stall?
It happens to most of us at some point. The book (quilt/scrapbook/you-fill-in-the-blank) we were so excited about stalls. It doesn't happen gradually--it feels as if it does, but it doesn't. No, one day you're working on it, and the next...you're not.
You might love the project. You can imagine the end product. You know it will be wonderful.
But...
You have no desire to work on it. You may even dread it.
Why does this happen?
1. We hit a point in the project where we're uncertain what to do next.
2. We look at the unfinished project through disdainful eyes, only seeing the flaws, forgetting it's the finishing touches that bring it together.
3. The busy-ness of life crowds out the time we reserved to work on it.
4. We get discouraged.
5. We wonder if continuing the project is worth it, and we fail to continue working on it.
6. Someone else completes a similar project with huge success and we compare our project to theirs. Insecurity ensues.
7. It hits us how much work is left. We become overwhelmed.
8. We wait for the mood to strike, but that's like waiting until we "feel" like exercising--it never happens!
What can we do about it?
1. We can take ten minutes to jot down possible next steps.
2. We train ourselves to ignore the flaws and press forward.
3. Do not allow anything to crowd out our project time.
4. When discouraged, give ourselves a pep talk.
5. The project IS worth it. Finishing a project is its own reward.
6. Never compare!
7. Stop looking at the big picture and focus on what we can do today.
8. There is no muse. Commit. Persevere. Just. Do. It.
What project lurks unfinished in your life? What can you do to get it back on track?
Have a wonderful weekend!!

5 Easy Questions with Jeanette Levellie!
Every
Wednesday, I ask a writer the same five easy questions. In an effort to support
and promote fellow wordsmiths, I feature authors who write a variety of genres,
from sweet inspirational to mainstream thrillers. The writers themselves may be
aspiring, published, or best-selling--all have made an impact on my life.
Jeanette and I met through blogging, and if you aren’t familiar with her, be prepared to fall in love! She’s such a generous, warm, hilarious writer. I’m thrilled to be hosting her—and get this—her debut humor devotion book, Two Scoops of Grace with Chuckles on Top, releases April 10! Congratulations, Jeanette!
2. Any pets?
5. What's for dinner?
I would love to go to Ireland. There must be a cruise, right? It would be amazing to see the green hills from the sea. Is that even possible? I don’t know! It sounds good, though! And I’m dying to read the chapter about the chicken chests. Ha!! Thanks so much for being my guest today!
For more information about Jeanette, head to her blog, be friends with her on Facebook, and follow her on Twitter.
Thank
you for joining me in welcoming…Jeanette Levellie!!

Let’s get to it!
1. Beverage of choice?
5:30
a.m.: coffee, dark roast, prepared in a French press. My bushy-bearded hero
gets up at 4:30 a.m. to grind beans and brings me coffee in bed. In the
afternoons, I usually have a cup of Tazo Awake tea, and drink herbal tea and
water the rest of the day. I am a water fiend.
2. Any pets?
No
pets. But I have four babies wearing fur suits. Rocky is a long-haired white
and orange male, who purrs whenever he’s near a human; Happy is a brown tabby
who snuggles with Rocky, Puddin’ is a pure black female who hides when company
comes, and Jolly is a black and white who’s so gregarious that the neighborhood
kids ask if he can come out and play!
3. Dream vacation?
Do they have
a cruise to Ireland? When I pay off my car this year, I’m saving for a cruise,
and I’ve wanted to visit Ireland for many years. My grandmother was a Kelly,
and I’d like to see the thousand shades of green Ireland is famous for.
4. What are you listening to right now?
Nothing.
Blissful peace and quiet after a long day at the office supply store I manage.
My customers are mostly great, but I get a few who pinch my patience and
increase my prayer life. When I see them come in, I beg God for grace, or run
to the bathroom and “let” my admin assistant deal with them.
5. What's for dinner?
Tonight
I cooked Italian Chicken Chests. This is the only recipe in my book, Two Scoops of Grace with Chuckles on Top,
which releases April 10th. The recipe accompanies the chapter
entitled, Can Preachers Have Sex on
Sundays? The reason we call them chicken chests is that, well… you’ll just
have to get the book and read it for yourself!

Jeanette,
your bushy-bearded hero sounds wonderful! Coffee in bed? Yes! And I snorted in
laughter about the customers who increase your prayer life. I was a waitress
for years, and I know exactly where you’re coming from. Your furry babies sound
so sweet! Kitties are my favorite.

February showers brought March flowers here.
Is the weather cattywampus (not sure how to spell that gem) where you live? Or
is it just Michigan?
Have a wonderful day!

5 Easy Questions with Cynthia Herron!

and promote fellow wordsmiths, I feature authors who write a variety of genres,
from sweet inspirational to mainstream thrillers. The writers themselves may be

Cynthia
and I met through blogging, and we were both blessed to be offered
representation through Books & Such Literary Agency within months of each other.
Cynthia is just—how do I describe it?—someone I can’t wait to run to and give a
huge hug when we finally meet! She writes heartfelt, homespun fiction and she’s
a heartfelt, wonderful person.
3. Dream vacation?
5. What's for dinner?
Doesn’t the beach sound like perfection right now? It’s my favorite place in the world. Sand, sun, water, relaxation, a great book, and a tube of Pringles—it’s vacation! It’s okay to add The Carpenters to the mix, too. And comfort food. There’s nothing better than a plate of mashed potatoes! Thanks so much for being my guest today, Cynthia!

1. Beverage of choice?
I'm definitely a coffee drinker. Strong blends, no cream or
sweeteners for me, and for optimum health, I limit my intake of coffee/caffeine
to no more than three cups per day. I'm also a big water fan, and I carry my
mondo-size mug with me wherever I go. Because I drink so much, I usually slosh
when I walk! (We have delicious well water so I'm a bit spoiled.) I rarely do
sodas, but if I do, it's usually Dr. Pepper and not diet.
2. Any pets?
Sadly, as a result of a
tornado, our beloved black Lab passed away several few years ago. We've not
really had a pet since then unless you count Mr. Limpet and Maurice, our
daughter's two Bettas. They each lasted about 6 months before entering the
Grand River Of Life. Now, darling daughter would like to try her hand at
raising a chameleon. Hmmm...
3. Dream vacation?
The beach. White sandy
shores and no noise other than the sound of the incoming tide and the seagulls
overhead.
4. What are you listening to right now?
The Carpenter's. I admit
it. Their greatest hits. Up next: Harry Connick, Jr.
5. What's for dinner?
Comfort food all the
way. Meat loaf, mashed taters and gravy, green beans, spinach salad, and drop
biscuits. Oh, and cherry crisp. With vanilla ice cream. ;)

Cynthia, I love Dr.
Pepper, but I always drink the diet version of it! I’m so sorry about the loss
of your sweet dog. Fish just aren’t the same. Chameleons either. Keep that foot
down on the subject of the reptile!

Cynthia writes heartfelt,
homespun, contemporary Christian romance novels and is represented by Mary
Keeley of the Books and Such Literary Agency. Cynthia is a collector of
gingerbread men, miniature teapots, and all things apple. She and her family
live in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks, otherwise known as "God's
Country." For more information about Cynthia, stop by her website and
