Thank
you for joining me in welcoming… Susan Mills!
I
found Susan’s blog early in my own blogging experience, and hers was easy to
remember. It’s the shoe blog! No, she doesn’t review footwear, but she does
post pictures of shoes and relates them to her writing and life. Very clever.
One thing I love about Susan is her generosity. Every time she takes a blog
break, good things happen to her friends, and she always shares the love. How
nice is that?
Let’s get to it!
1. Beverage of choice?
Coffee-black,
no cream, no sugar.
2. Any pets?
A
Black Lab named Willie after the K-State mascot Willie the Wildcat and a brand new boxer rescue puppy.
3. Dream vacation?
4. What are you listening to right now?
A
train bellowing in the distance.
5. What's for dinner?
Whatever everyone can scrounge up. I
won't be home to cook tonight, but if I were, I'd probably make something
simple like spaghetti.

Susan, no cream, no sugar?? The horror! Actually, I’m beyond
impressed. My coffee barely resembles coffee by the time I doctor it. Huge
congratulations on your new puppy! What did you name him? Is he adorable or
what? And how is Willie taking this?
You need to get to the beach. Might I suggest Lake Michigan?
We found a gorgeous stretch of white sand called Tunnel Beach in Holland, MI. I
can’t wait to get back there this summer. I adore the beach! Spaghetti is my
go-to meal, too. It’s fast, hearty, and always delicious. Thanks so much for
being my guest today, Susan!

I just read a new Stephanie Laurens book, studied up on the Kennedy family, and I'm really enjoying the Usher song "Without You" right now.
Have a magnificent day!
I take my coffee totally black too! :) And puppies - how fun!
ReplyDeleteI love that you named your lab after your school's mascot! Cute!
ReplyDeleteGood morning!
ReplyDeleteLaura: Totally black. Wow. You'd throw up if you saw my cup right now! :)
Heather: We should have named our mini-wiener dog Wolverine instead of Sophie!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I'm with you, Jill. Get that lady to the beach pronto. I come back to life at the beach.

How long did it take to like black coffee? I'd like to be cool and say, "I take it black." But I'm not cool. I have to dump a load of creamer in. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm checking out your shoe blog. That sounds fun!
Black coffee! I'm not cool either.
ReplyDeleteIs there a special blend you drink to make it bearable? (Nope, I still think I'd scrunch my nose).
My brother is a KSU alum. It's been quite a week for K-State sports. Yay on beating Mizzou, and man, I was sure hoping they'd come through against Baylor.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of your blog. I'll have to check it out.
If we named our dog after my high school mascot, it would be named Pretzel. Somehow, I think Willie the Wildcat works better.
ReplyDeleteBeing a shoe-lover and loving to write, I'll be dropping by A Walk in My Shoes next!
Thanks for having me here, Jill! And as for the black coffee, I never tried it any other way because my parents drank it black. It really is an acquired taste, but I couldn't live without it now. By the way, the puppy's name is Paisley. My daughter named this one. And Willie CAN NOT stand the puppy. His world has been rocked, and not in a good way. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed learning more about you, Susan. I like lots of creamer in my coffee and in my tea.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill. I hopped over from Susan's blog. Fun interview! The only time I can drink my coffee black is if I'm eating something sweet to go with it; otherwise, it's completely doctored up.

It's hard being landlocked. I would love to live within a half days drive of the beach, a warm beach. All we have in Canada are cold beaches.
ReplyDeleteBLACK coffee?? *gasp* I'm impressed. Only the BEST coffee drinkers can take it black. And I want a boxer puppy. We do have a precious labradoodle, though.:-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan! Spaghetti is my go-to easy meal too.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! Hi Jill!
ReplyDeleteI love walking the beach at the Indiana Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan. The weather has been so beautiful, we went again last weekend.
Wendy: Me too. I could use some beach right now!
ReplyDeleteJessica P: I will never be cool. Creamer is my best friend!
Tamika: Same here! Ha!!
Erica: I am loving the sports! Bummed about college football being over with, but I'm still enjoying NFL playoffs. ;)
Lynette: Pretzel is an adorable name! Maybe your next pet? :)
Susan: Aw, Paisley! Too cute! We have a mini-wiener dog who would not take kindly to an additional pet. She's a mama's dog!
Janet: Mm, I've never tried cream in my tea... :)
Catherine: Ha! I've been known to plop frosting from my donut into my coffee--I have a sickness! :)
Patti: Same here. At least until summer. Lake Erie is not my fave in January!
Shannon: Aw, labrodoodles are really cute! Enjoy!
Julie: Yep! And it's a great excuse to have garlic bread!
Jen: Thank you! And I have spaghetti on the menu this week too. :)
Loree: Isn't it gorgeous? Summer or winter--I love Lake Michigan!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
That is awesome that your black lab is named Willie!
ReplyDeleteI don't live near the beach, but there is a lake about three hours away from us that has sand. It will fit the bill (literally) when going to a real beach isn't feasible. :)
ReplyDeleteI must have a little sugar in my coffee! I'm intrigued by books about heaven such as The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven and Heaven is For Real. I'm looking forward to reading them both. And I'm listening to Switchfoot's Restless right now. It increasingly gets better every time I hear it!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink coffee. Period. I love the smell of it though. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat interview.
My coffee looks like dessert when I'm done with it! Great interview guys. :)
ReplyDeletea train bellowing in the distance reminds me of home in the midwest. i lived a block away from the railroad tracks, but i had a couple friends who lived next to the tracks, and horns we heard all the time. nice interview.
ReplyDeleteKatie: I know! It's such a cute name. Reminds me of one of my fave shows, Swamp People. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteStacie: Sand and lakes always make me happy. Michigan has a ton of lakes, and I'm only 15 minutes from Lake Erie, so I'm very blessed to be surrounded by water. :)
Lynn: My kids read Heaven is for Real and really liked it. And I love Switchfoot but I don't think I've heard that single. I'm adding it to my list to check out--thanks!
Stina: Do you drink tea? I love hot beverages. They literally warm me up inside out. :)
Lydia: Mine too! I even throw Cool Whip in there sometimes. It's ridiculous!
Ed: We used to live close to a main track and we would hear the trains (faintly) all night long. It's a really cool background noise if you think about it. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
So nice to meet you, Susan! Jill, thanks for the introduction. I'll be heading over to that Blog. (I especially love meeting other YA writers.)
ReplyDeleteNow, about the beach. I wasted many years wishing for it. Please, don't do the same. JUST DO IT!!
Susan, you can come and visit me in my beach town anytime!!
ReplyDeleteSusan is awesome, so it's great to learn more about her! :)
ReplyDeleteAww, I love rescue doggies AND boxer's, so you've found the perfect little family member. And a blog that compares shoes to writing...I must check it out!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with Susan. She is such a sweetheart. I enjoy her blog and her comments on on mine so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Susan on the black coffee.
I hope she gets her dream vacation.
ReplyDeleteIt was great getting to know more about Susan.
