5 Easy Questions with Jessica Nelson!

Every Wednesday, I ask a writer the same five easy questions. In an effort to support and promote fellow wordsmiths, I feature authors who write a variety of genres, from sweet inspirational to mainstream thrillers. The writers themselves may be aspiring, published, or  best-selling--all have made an impact on my life.

Thank you for joining me in welcoming…Jessica Nelson!!

I met Jessica years ago through blogging, and I instantly adored her posts about her writing journey. It's been fun watching Jessica's progress, including landing an agent (woo-hoo!) and a contract with Harlequin Love Inspired Historical (double woo-hoo!). I can't wait to read her debut novel next April!

Let's get to it!

1. Beverage of choice?

Starbucks Raspberry mocha, but I drink water regularly and like it.

2. Any pets?

One cat, Pretty Girl. Sadly our other cat, Kiah, went missing a month ago. He was a sweetheart who loved the kids and dogs.

3. Dream vacation?

Anywhere! I love traveling and I love to learn languages!

4. What are you listening to right now?

The gurgling of my husband's annoying fish tank. Everything else is silent because the wild, albeit adorable, children have gone to sleep.

5. What's for dinner?

Ummmm...nothing, yet. Maybe melted chocolate chips with peanut butter? Cooking isn't my forte. :-)

***
Mmm...rasperry mocha. I haven't tried that one, but it sounds like the perfect drink for this time of year. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. I can only hope he's in a good place. As far as traveling, I am so with you! I don't care if we head somewhere an hour away, I just love puttering around new places, but sadly, I don't share you adoration of new languages. I've attempted to learn French from a CD, and it didn't go so well. Okay, your dinner is the BEST EVER! Melted chocolate chips and peanut butter? Sign me up! Thanks so much for being my guest today, Jessica!

Has anyone gotten their winter coats out yet? The weather is turning brisk here!

  2. Hi Jill! Thanks so much for having me. :-) I adore the raspberry mocha, but I'll warn you that some baristas (is that what they're called?) make it better than others.
Weather in FL has gotten pleasantly cool. I'm so glad I can turn off my AC! lol
    Thanks for the wonderful interview!

  3. Thanks Laura! Calcium, antioxidants and protein. How can I go wrong? *grin*

  4. Yum on the drink! I say chocolate and PB is fine for dinner. :)

We're still in hoodies around here, Jill, but it's cold enough in the mornings for a heavier coat. I love hoodie weather!

  7. I agree with you and Jill ... Even a daytrip exploring a brand new town is an escape and great getaway.

And please, set a place for me at that dinner table :)

  8. Good morning!

Laura: Chocolate and peanut butter should be a nutrition category on their own! ;)

Jessica N.: The person making the drink DOES make a difference. We've had our AC off for a few months. The furnace is on! :)

Jessica P: I love hoodie weather too. If I can push back the winter coats as long as possible, I'm happy!

Kara: Me too! I can't wait to read Jessica's book!

Janna: Count me in--we should have a chocolate/pb dinner date. :)

Joanne: It's true, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how many quaint gems we've found so close to our town.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  9. Jessica holds a special corner of my heart, since she was my first blog follower three years ago. I'm so pleased how the Lord has moved in her life and career!

My cat, Angus went missing awhile ago, too, and it still breaks my heart to think of it. I hope your baby returns, Jess!

Can't wait for your novel's release!

  13. Hi, Jessica, great to get to know a bit about you on Jill's site! So sorry about your kitty. If he's that friendly, someone has probably adopted him and is taking care of him. We nearly acquired a kitty when we moved (he slipped into the back of the open van in between lugging trips. It was only when my husband took one final look inside the U-Haul that he saw a flash of eyes in the dark. Lucky kitty.

  19. KB, I hope someone did, but he's always been an outdoor cat so good luck to them litter training him. I feel so sad when I think of him missing though, and my kids miss him too. :-(
Interesting story. I'm glad you saw your little guy. Nice to meet you too, and thank you for commenting!

  25. So fun getting to know more about you, Jessica! And yay for Starbucks! (Gonna have an extra dose today before I get my flu shot. Go, me!)

I always have a jacket handy, Jill, because where we live we can have a tornado one day and an ice storm the next! :)

  26. Hi Jill! Hi Jessica!

I look forward to reading your debut novel this coming spring, Jessica. How exciting!

Let's just all have chocolate for dinner tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gurgling fish tanks are SO annoying. I agree! And chocolate for supper sounds reasonable.

    ReplyDelete
  28. A girl after my heart. Someone else who hates cooking.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What a great interview, ladies! Thank you both for sharing. ;)

BTW, don't let Jessie fool you. She may not like to cook, but she's a housekeeper extraordinaire. So even if she just has chocolate for supper, you can bet she cleans up those bowls and spoons and leaves the kitchen spotless afterwards. :)

  30. Can't wait Jessica to read your book! So exciting to see all my bloggy friends getting published!!! :O)

  31. Hi, Jessica! It's great to learn more about you. Rasberry mocha sounds yummy. I've had it in Frappucino form but I haven't tried the hot coffee.

Chocolate for dinner! Can I come over to your house, lol :-)

  32. Great interview, Jill! I hit the enter button before I could mention that.

  33. Sounds like an excellent coffee choice. Might have to try that. Great to learn more about you, Jessica.

PS: If these are the questions for you know what, then I can just copy paste and send you my answers with pics and bio, etc.

Jessica B: Check your in-box!! (And thanks!!)

Katie: Isn't that a nice phrase? Mine is too. :)

  39. Always great to discover another water lover! Haven't tried that raspberry drink at Starbucks and not sure that I want to.

My sister's one cat went missing a couple months ago, too. That tugs on my heartstrings for sure.

Thanks Jill, for letting us get to know Jessica a little better. I'm still wondering how she keeps that figure with chocolate for supper.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh my, ladies!! It's official. DINNER PARTY!!
At my place, and Anita does NOT have to clean. Heeheee!
Jill, thank you so much for having me! Will you do the honor of picking out the chocolates we'll be having? *grin*
And Eileen, don't be fooled, clothes hide a bunch. But I'll bet chocolate has less calories than a full meal. Just sayin'. lol

Everyone, thank you so much for your funny and encouraging comments! It's been awesome to read them!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, I didn't realize I could get the raspberry mocha as a frap. Hmmm. Sounds possibly very delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jessie, I'm a cat person, too. I'm sorry about yours going missing. And I'm a self-professed lousy cook. I like to eat, though, especially when others prepare the meal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Eileen: Yes, I would like to know how Jessica stays so slim too!! And I'm sorry about your sister's kitty. They're like members of the family.

Jessica: Ooo, picking out chocolate? That's a tough one! I love Godiva, Cadbury, and Lindt--mm, mmm!

Keli: I'm a cat person too. I almost picked up a 365 Days of Cats calendar for 2012 today! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  44. Sign me up for Jessica's dinner. Yum. That's my kind of cooking.

Exciting about Jessica's book. Will be looking for it.

Unfortunately, I did have to bet my winter coat out one very chilly evening.
