5 Easy Questions with Maria I. Morgan!

Every Wednesday, I ask a writer the same five easy questions. In an effort to support and promote fellow wordsmiths, I feature authors who write a variety of genres, from sweet inspirational to mainstream thrillers. The writers themselves may be aspiring, published, or best-selling--all have made an impact on my life.

Thank you for joining me in welcoming…Maria I. Morgan!!

I met Maria through her beautiful devotional blog, Life Lessons. Maria inspires me. Not only does she encourage our spiritual lives on her blog, she also advocates healthy living—always a welcome subject in my house! I’m thrilled to have her here today.

Let’s get to it!

1. Beverage of choice?

For mornings, it's got to be Maxwell House's Suisse Mocha. The sugar free, decaf variety - since caffeine and I don't get along. The rest of the day? Good old H2O is my beverage of choice! A hint of lemon or lime adds just enough pizzazz to make it refreshing and fun!

2. Any pets?

Absolutely! Our sweet, kitty named Courtney loves being the queen of the house. She has a highly efficient motor and purrs every chance she gets. We have two dogs, a Golden Retriever, Precious, and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Mighty Joe. They have their own official outdoor 'bark parks,' and thoroughly enjoy greeting everyone who walks by. And just like kids, they have totally different personalities. Precious just loves to cuddle; Joe is all about playing. Our pets often inspire me with topics for my blog, Life Lessons!

3. Dream vacation?

You're really generating some thought on this one, Jill! I love warm weather - so I'm going to say a tropical destination. I love a nice, sandy beach where I can relax with a good book, or get out in the water to kayak or snorkel. Yup! I can imagine it now, completing an award-winning, inspirational, Christian romance novel by Jill Kemerer, before heading out to swim with the exotic fish and sea turtles... Sounds like the perfect vacation to me!

4. What are you listening to right now?

Ahhh! The silence of being the only one at home right now. It's easiest for me to write with no distractions. Reminds me of a Bible verse the Lord has etched into my heart, "Be still, and know that I am God..." (Psalm 46:10; KJV).

5. What's for dinner?

My family's favorite chili - Indian Summer Turkey Chili (a Rachael Ray recipe), served with a field green salad, fruit cup, and cheesecake. The good thing? I made the chili yesterday, so I don't have to cook tonight! Woo-hoo!

Maria, I’ve been drinking more water lately, and I’ve noticed it perks me up better than a soda. Not sure how that’s possible! Your pets sound delightful—love strong purring motors and barky dogs.  But I’m sooo with you on silence. Nothing better than a quiet house with no background noise.

I’m inviting myself along on your tropical getaway—and how sweet of you to say that about my books! We’ll have some sunshine, frozen drinks, and a lot of laughter. Anyone else want to join? Oh, and I’m a Rachael Ray magazine subscriber—the chili sounds yummy! Thanks so much for being my guest today!

  1. Your dogs sound like mine! They think it's their job to greet everyone in the neighborhood when kids are on their way to the playground.

    1. Julie - Great to see you! Yes, our dogs have both proven themselves worthy of the title, 'watchdog.' Have a fantastic week & God bless!

    2. Don't I wish, Julie. My yappy mini-dachshund thinks it's her job to act like a guard dog when anyone walks past our house. And the mailman? It's the thrill of her day to stand on the back of our couch and bark!

  3. Aw, we have a kitty who rules the roost and a golden retriever puppy who doesn't realize it! :)

And yes, I admit it, I've been eating the little sweetart candies in the shapes of ducks, bunnies, and some other cute animal. *blush* Not to mention the Starburst jellybeans...too tempting.

Speaking of cats purring, Courtney will start purring if you just look at her. Funny, I know. Maybe she can Skype your cats and give them a few lessons! Have a blessed Easter!
