One Minute Vacation: Pampering

Do you ever have days where you feel like you're sprinting from the minute you wake up until you collapse on the couch an hour before bed? Yeah, me too.

December is a glorious month, but it's hard to pamper yourself when you're rushing to get everything done.

Here are a few easy, inexpensive, fast ways to make your day a little nicer.

  • Massage thick, creamy lotion into your feet.

  • Place a slice of cucumber over each eye, recline back, and rest a minute.

  • Listen to a favorite song.

  • Stare out your front window. How often do you pay attention to that view?

  • Call a friend you haven't talked to in a while.

  • Snuggle with your child or a pet. No kids or pets? Wrap up in a fuzzy blanket.

  • Practice deep breathing.

  • Hop in your vehicle at night and drive around to see the local Christmas lights.
How do you squeeze pampering into your day?
Have a festive weekend!

  1. I love a hot bubble bath, a glass of wine, and a super good book at the end of a long, busy day!

  3. I had one of those days yesterday :/

I'm a winter tea-drinker, and enjoy a cup of green tea in the evening to unwind with. But I don't go for it in the spring and summer, only in the cold months.

  4. Oh Julie, I miss our bath in Ohio. So big and the water was always warm. Not a guarentee here.

Seriously, sitting to read for fifteen minutes is heavenly to me!

    Or chocolate.
    Or a brief nap.

I can't even tell you the last time I painted my nails.

    Merry Christmas,
    ~Wendy

  8. Your first question pretty much described my life.

I ought to buy me some cucumbers. :)

  9. I've been doing a lot of staring out the window lately. What's been really relaxing to me is getting a room completely clean and organized and then sitting in it in several minutes of silence. Probably strange that organization relaxes me, but it does :)

  10. Snuggles, a cup of tea, laughter, driving to see Christmas lights with the family tradition of "ooh, ah, whoa." (We each take turns saying those words as we point out the lights, it's silly but it makes us all laugh)
Petting the dogs and the cat. And talking to friends.

  12. A few minutes to read in bed before I turn off the light at night. No matter how tired I am, I read at least a few pages.

  13. Were you looking at my schedule??! :)

My favorite way to relax is with a book or a movie. Oh, wait - and over at the coffee shop. Love that.

With four boys, a full-time job, and the weekly writing gig, I'm going like a one-armed paper hanger. Cucumbers on the eyes - what's that?? (grinning wryly)

Thank you so much for your kind comment over on Susan Reinhardt's blog. I really appreciated that. It was a nice little Christmas gift for this tired mama.

    Waving and smiling,

    Rhonda

  14. I'm a big bath fan myself, and it's really, REALLY nice to know we're all busy and do the best we can to fit in some "me time."

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

  16. I like to sit down and drink a cup of tea start to finish, just to take a breather. Of course it doesn't always happen... I find abandoned tea mugs around the house at the end of the day or sometimes even a full kettle that has boiled & cooled. At least the thought was there!

  17. I love your suggestions Jill! I need to do them all:) I think the best way I relaz is to just sit still, close my eyes and think about happy relaxing thoughts.

  18. Hi Jill -

We're planning to ride around the neighborhood and check out the Christmas displays. I'm also taking an hour a day to enjoy a good book.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  19. My showers are a time to let the hot water take away the stress in my neck and head.

A deep breath when things get tense takes most of that away, so does clinching my teeth.

    Online shopping/browsing/windowshopping helps :)
Retail therapy WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD IT ( don't spend all your monies!!!LOL It's too easy!) does a woman good. ;)

  21. Just reading your suggestions relaxed me! I love shutting things down at 8 at night and watching a movie on Netflix. Tonight's movie will probably be A Christmas Story with the kids!
