One Minute Vacation: Clean House

I have a short list of things that bring me joy, and a clean house is on it.

When my house resembles the picture below, I fantasize about staying in a hotel, because a maid comes in and tidies up.

Sure, I long for a fairy godmother (or godfather) to *poof* my house clean.

But I don't believe a clean house is a sign of a wasted life.

So I set the timer, grab the broom, and keep my home in reasonable shape every week.

After all, who doesn't love climbing into a neatly made bed at the end of the day?

Does part of your vacation fantasy involve a hotel with a maid?
Have a wonderful Monday!

  1. Now this made me smile! Four rooms of my house are now practically empty waiting for the carpet cleaners. I can't wait. And I may not move the stuff back in. ;)

  2. When I stay in a hotel, I actually leave the Do Not Disturb sign out because it drives me nuts to have someone wiping around my things every day. Once every few days is okay, but every day seems excessive. :)

  3. I love the messy house picture with the blue bottle of windex and broom sitting there, like if you put them in the room on their own magic might happen. If only it were that easy!

  4. I'd love to have a maid. And I do. Her name is CJ (-; I struggled with trying to keep things reasonably neat and orderly. A friend menntioned FlyLady.net and I was hooked. FlyLady's concept is lots can be done in 15 min. chunks of time.

  5. I'm with you on keeping a clean house. For me, it's so much easier to focus on my writing when everything around me is neatly in its place, and not distracting my eye.

  6. I like order--things straightened.

But dust doesn't bother me. I tend to think better after I sneeze. ;)

  7. A hotel maid is preferrable because then I'd be on vacation! I used to be very picky about my house-cleaning but I've learned to be okay with a mess now. Life's just messy sometimes.

  8. I hired a cleaning lady once, but got so anxious watching everything she missed, I decided I'd be less stressed cleaning myself. No, no, I didn't mean cleaning "me". I meant cleaning the "house" myself,

  9. I had to tidy the office and put away laundry this morning before I could settle down to school and work!

I don't dream so much of a hotel with a maid as having a cleaning service come in and clean my home from time to time.

  10. Confession: my husband does most of the cleaning because he enjoys it. He's always been a neat, tidy person and when he was in the Army, that only solidified the trait in him.

But he doesn't dust. Or vacuum. So I gladly do that while he does the laundry, cleans the kitchen, does the dishes, etc.

I love it though rarely get to enjoy a completely clean house...

    mess= life

  12. I crave a clean house but have learned to appreciate what my hubby calls the "lived-in look." =)

  13. I too love a clean house. Since a maid isn't an option, I have to keep up with it myself. Sometimes this is easier said than done.

  14. Hmmm. I kinda like my messy writer's cave...which during productive times gloms over to the entire house!!!

I DO like that sparkling clean first picture!

    Go, Windex mama!

  15. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned yesterday and my apartment is spotless! Such a great feeling! Now I hope I don't have to clean for a long time!

  16. I love, love, love a clean house. It's so much nicer to live when it's all picked up and clean. Unfortunately that takes a lot of time. I try to live in a picked up and reasonably clean house. It happens sometimes.

  17. A clean house would be nice, but I know that dream wouldn't last a day around here. OH well! :O)

  19. I love a clean house, but I don't often get one. :-) I spent several years trying to keep the house nice single-handedly. The problem is that doing that takes up ALL my time. So for me, a constantly clean house would indeed be a sign of a wasted life, because it would mean I had spent all of my time cleaning instead of accomplishing anything. :-) Instead, I have learned to live with clutter and some dirt, so I will not spend my life as a maid. Still, I love those occasions when the house is completely clean.

  20. I love a clean house, I'm just not so great with making it that way:) Actually, my older girls now really help me to keep things tidy...well, usually.

  21. No, that is not one of my fantasies. I do love a clean house and when my house is clean, especially in the evening with lights low and twinkling, it makes my heart sing. I actually enjoy a certain amount of cleaning.

  23. I gotta have a clean house! Now if someone would just do the work and LET ME WRITE. SHEESH, What is it with this bunch?

But, er, yeah, the maid thing, Jill. :)

Thanks for your wishes for my sweety Christopher. I love him so much. :)

  24. Funny you should mention a messy house, I'm living in one right now. Is there some kind of sign outside my house asking neighbors to come by at a streaming pace? I'm not kidding I've had more "pop' over's this week then ever before. I suppose when I clean up they'll stop coming. *sigh* Law of the universe.
