One Goal Friday: July 9, 2010

Hot and humid, this week's been a scorcher. When it's too hot to be outside, we find fun things to do indoors. This week, we played with clay at our local art museum. I found rolling the brown clay in my palm to be relaxing and oddly freeing. A scene for my new book popped in my head as I formed a snail.

It's Friday, time to review and set one goal. Last week, my goal was to find quiet time just for me. Although I had to snatch the time in small increments here and there, I did manage to accomplish it.

Here are your goals:

Diane: Make the most of each day with kids and summer vacation
CJ: Get health records organized for the Young One's college
Katie: Another 12k words (great job, by the way!!)
Kelly: Write like mad over holiday weekend (the Holy Land experience sounded amazing--thanks for sharing it!)
Terri: Read my WIP (Sorry, I foiled your goal! Bad me!! Love you!)
Linda: Pick up memoir after a three-week break from it
Tyrean: Traveling and writing (nice combo!)
Sherrinda: Edit a chapter a day
Amber J: Write two more chapters and continue exercise challenge
Abby: Read/write every day and practice piano
Lynn: Finish homework assignments
The Alliterative A: Stress less
Loree H: Get through four chapters of revision and enjoy weekend with loved ones
T. Anne: Get 8k or 9k completed
Susan JR: Recuperate from yucky dentist (hope you're feeling better)
Quiet Spirit: Edit a script for church and continue helping husband
Cindy: Make peace with starting over
Hannah: Relax on two days off of work
Karen L: More quiet time
Nancy: Get the cream bags of watermelon done (how are the wedding plans going?)
Amy: Exercise
Kathi: Take the dog to the vet, finish going over editors comments on book, write at least one article, work on invitations for book launch (congratulations on the book launch!!)
Patti: Safe travels from Nashville to Terre Haute then back home

How did you do? I hope you all had a great time striving for your goals.

This week, my goal is to organize all of my writing files. They're out of control. Staples--here I come!

What one goal would enhance your life this week?

Please leave your goal in the comment section. Newcomers are welcome to participate, and don't worry if you can't stop by every Friday--my blog's goal isn't to add stress but to be a place of support.

Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. That's right, I was off Blogger last week. Hmmm. My goal is to finally have Noble in a place where I can push it away for awhile and go guns w/ Partridge. Have fun wrapping that up into a tidy sentence next week. ;)

  4. Got the health records sent off. A dream goal would be to hire a housekeeper to do the chores so I could just make art all day.

  5. Those dogs are so tiny!! I completed all homework assignments and have the same goal for this week (Camy Tang's online writing class). And I want to try a photo shoot where I stage the scene creating a story-something new. Have a great week Jill.

Goal this week, write. I'm taking part in NovelTrack, and I'm a little behind my goal.

  8. Loved the "hot dog" photo!

Accomplished my goals last week. Got through five chapters instead of four, and had a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

    Yay!

I have a weird work schedule this week (days and evenings) but will plan four more chapters of revision to complete for this week.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  10. I'm so glad to be back to Goals Friday with you, dear. I missed it!

My goal is to get a doggie like that one in your photo!!! Too cute! Is that what yours looked like when he was a pup?

My realistic goal this week is to get my writing files from plastic totes into a file cabinet. I'll be thinking of you as I do!

    Love,
    Jen

  12. Hi, Jill! My goals were a bust for this week...sick husband and flooded basement. The basement is on the mend, but I carried as much stuff upstairs as possible so my house is a disaster. :( I don't know how long it will take to get back to normal.

My goals for next week are going to be slim, as I have a hard time consentrating in chaos...
    1. two blog posts
    2. finalize Cake pb ms
    3. one chapter of mg hf novel.
    4. maintain sanity...

    Have a wonderful weekend, Jill!

  14. I succeeded! Except for the practicing piano part -- I have to leave on a trip so I took a couple of days off so I could pack and generally get things in order before I leave.

Goals for next week: make new friends at music camp. I'm painfully shy, so this will be a challenge.

  15. Hey Jill! Goal for this week? Finish 2 articles before my Tuesday deadline. BTW - love the pic of the 'hotdog'! Too cute! Hope your weekend is extra special. Hugs & blessings!:)

  16. Oh! Cutest photo EVER.

I like things like playing with clay. It's monotonous and mindless, and opens up the path to creativity, I think.

I'm going to be boring and say the thing I always say: Keep at these edits.

    Happy weekend, Jill!

  17. Jen: Organizing buddies! Yay! Our little doggy was small, but not small enough to fit into a hot dog bun. Isn't that a cute pic? ;)

Jennifer: Oh yeah! Get 'er done, girl!

Sharon: I am so sorry about your house flooding--and a sick husband on top of it? Try and stay sane this week.

T.Anne: You can do it! I know you can!

Abby: I think everyone has a tough time in new situations. I'll keep you in my prayers. :)

Maria: Two for Tuesday, right? Ha! Good luck!

Janna: Monotonous is good! You're doing great on those edits! Keep at it!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  24. Jill:
We had some excellent help with getting SIL's apartment cleared of her belonging and the place cleaned. This week we have to turn off the utilities and turn the keys back into the rental office. We are still waiting for death certificates. So is the funeral home. My goal is to try to get these things taken care of this week.

  25. Hi Jill -

Thanks. I have another appointment tomorrow with the dentist. Two more after that and I'll be done.

I did manage to write four blog posts. :)

    Blessings,
    Susan
