October: Balance? Is It Possible?

Ahh...October. Harvest time. Cider time. Curl up on the couch with a good book time.

This month we're going to be discussing balance. Is it even possible? I'm not sure, but I constantly strive to not let one aspect of my life overcrowd the others. I'm not always successful. It's hard.

I'm hoping this month we can celebrate our successes finding balance and also moan about our less than successful efforts. Some of the posts will challenge the idea of balance, while others will give tips on managing our time wisely.

I'm also hoping we can share strategies to better balance our writing with our family, hobbies, exercise, and the million other things we juggle every single day.

Have a terrific weekend and join me on Monday to get this discussion started!

  1. Balance is the "new" word around our home! Summer is so carefree for us, that fall brings on a new schedule. A fun one. But one that needs attention to detail. School, coaching sports, work and simply just being a family all take time and coordination and most of all..balance. So does that "me" time when I need the time to just read or write. Also, your previous post was great, I have never taken an on-line writing class, but I was curious -just for the fact that I don't have time to do it any other way.
    Thanks!
    Have a great weekend!!

  2. Jill, this will be very timely with November bringing on all the Christmas stuff too.

I noticed today that tomorrow's devotional for me is on balance. I'll have to let you know what it says to me on your post tomorrow.

  4. LOVE the fall...and yes, it lends itself nicely to hot cups of cider and curling up on the couch with a good book. I'm starting the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (I'm embarassed to admit I haven't read it yet!). Looking forward to your next post!

  7. I was never very good at that thing in gymnastics. And I know you'd have a good laugh at me trying to get over that horse. Ohhh, balance...that kind. Just teasing. In a silly mood.

It will be good to read your insights. I always learn here.

  9. Hey you almost through off my whole week with a Thursday post! Ok, so I'm not that anal! But seriously, I almost missed your post!

I'm looking forward to grumbling about lack of time and the craziness of trying to balance things! Sounds right up my alley!

  10. Next to spring, fall is my favorite season. I can't wait for the leaves to turn.

I did a post on this subject awhile back. I think it's rare that our lives are ever balanced. We swing from one extreme to the other like the pendulum on a clock.

Sometimes we have to say, "No," to projects we'd like to take on.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  11. Dangit, you said cider. Now i'm going to have to go find a jug and swig it while standing in a pile of brown and yellow leaves.

    Looking forward to the discussion!

  13. Oh--welcome everyone!! I totally goofed and scheduled this post for the wrong day. It was supposed to go tomorrow. I'm never home on Thursdays to respond!

So, thank you, thank you for stopping by today, and I apologize that the next post won't be until Monday.

Have some delicious cider, some flavored coffee, a handful of mini-donuts and think of me :)

  15. Fall is by far my favorite time of year! I love the fresh, crisp air and the shorter days. Things seem to slow down in the evenings when it gets dark earlier. I look forward to your blogs on balance, because it is something I am terrible at.

So if you have any questions, I will for sure have answers...HA! Yea right. This is a constant struggle for me, so I'm looking forward to the discussions!

  24. I'll be here monday for sure! I need all the tips I can get. Although I have to say through much prayerful consideration in my own life, I do feel like the Lord is teaching me this valuable skill of finding balance. I love how much more centered I feel.

  25. Jill, I'm looking forward to your October focus on balance, which is something I'm constantly trying to achieve. I even have magnets with the word in strategic places to remind me of my desire.

  26. Balance?? What is that?? ;-)

I am looking forward to your posts. It is crazy but I actually had more balance when I worked a 9-5 office job than I do now that I am home full time.
